Every day feels like a kick in the teeth but cat gets scritches, I took my walk, kiddo's friend came over, grandparents took the kids, spouse and I bought records and walked to a great Mexican restaurant for fajitas and tequila shots, and there was a massive and bright rainbow 🌈 life continues

I have been lifting weights for to make the muscle and the bone. Those added significant weight to my body. KNOWING it's fine is one thing but still the number feels difficult.

As far as I can make out thematically this is the Bad Choice! because Kamui wants to do something FOR the ones he cares about, to a point of exclusion, without considering their feelings first causing all kinds of tragedy for them in the process

Speed reading X to refresh myself on the story, and it's a wild blend of fierce personalities, dramatic delivery, comic relief, and horror

I'm subjecting the kiddos to Oregon Trail Three of us died so far, we caused death of a 4yo Little Mary, the oxen ran off, and my lone son has a broken arm a broken leg and dysentery and is sprinting alone and exhausted with moldy flour Starting to see where I went off in childhood

When we play around with Japanese my kids jokingly call me (their mom) "otousan". Their dad gets called "kani sempai". One of us is the clear favorite.

Masters of the Universe made Adam an 8yo kid with the world through his eyes. Via magical girl trope he transforms older with a wand and gains magic agency and friends. Bad guys are just bad and they need to be punched. Noticed okay messages on less toxic masculinity, zero blood, crude jokes.

Strange New Worlds is trek fanfic in the most affectionate way like S4E1 asks 'what is the most FUN thing that could happen next?' and also it does a 'lets put the Sad Man in the Very Bad Situation' plus a little sprinkle of existential angst and UST and hope and and and This show is so great omg

Complex post X/1999 fic idea with Fuuma and Subaru rattling in my head for 20 years and I think I want to try it again even if it's for like six readers and my skills aren't enough to make it as good as I want because What happens after the world ends but time goes on anyway?

Watching 1776 today. One scene I didn't remember from watching in high school was "Cool Cool Considerate Men". A deep cut to the heart of a persistent cancer. Turns out it was struck out because Nixon (!) objected. Re-added in a director's cut in 2002. youtu.be/01nzCEriFAA?...

I didn't think I'd feel very patriotic today, but y'know what? Fuck it. This is a perfect day to recommit to the values and ideals of the US. Democratic rule. Freedom from oppression. Equality under the law. Self-determination. No tyrants. No kings. Relentless, defiant optimism.

Heatwave protocol - Stay in shade, drink *lots* of water, salty snacks, use a fan, use a shade umbrella, cover up skin loosely with wicking natural fiber, sunscreen, stay inside in the hottest/middle part of the day. Cool showers if possible. Wrists and neck are cooling points. Avoid alcohol.

my linguist brain on this trip Czech: can jive, there are latin-ish roots and weirdly enough similarities with Texas place names, sweet Austrian German: also good to go, germanic roots, I get it Hungarian: o_0
