[uspol nokings pig mask] At Portland OR Waterfront Park, listening to Senator Merkley talk about stuff #nokings #portland
Side view of a chubby man in a dark business suit and a pig mask that covers his whole head. On the cheek of the mask is the word "Oligarch" or maybe "Oligarchy"; the end of the word is not clear. The neck of the pig is ragged with red edges. The eyes look hollow with a streak of red going down to the chin. This is probably a Halloween mask. It seems impractical for piggy fetish sex. Well. If you do use it for piggy fetish sex, take photos.

Beyond the pig man are various signs like "I Love America", "First Unitarian Portland", "Lock Them Up", held by people who are mostly Pixelated-Americans, a fast growing ethnic group that's tolerated by the indigenous coyotes because the newcomers often drop Chicken Caesar Wraps in convenient locations.

Also in the background, partially hidden by leaves, is someone in an Inflatable Frog Costume. These frogs are an icon in Pixelated-American culture. The frogs are Holy Protectors, or maybe Chartered Accountants; the scripture is contested. This one appears to be both.

[uspol nokings dog] Crossing the street, passed a cheery waggy Bernese wearing a sign: "Trump can lick my furry balls Oh wait no he can't." Didn't want to stop in middle of the street, so didn't get a photo.

@seandick.net main bug I found: first try, I got stuck on the Earth in space, and wondered if this was some broken puzzle. I figured out how to reproduce it: from the starting moon, hold left, fall off, keep holding left while falling. I land on the Earth. once I'm there, I don't see any way to […]

rewatched Zootopia with C, who hasn't seen it before. it's still fun and clever and somehow illustrates ACAB without interrogating that much. it does swipe at it a little with the 2nd day of Judy's overzealous parking tickets. there she's kinda shown to be a bad cop in the systemic sense. not a […]

@futurebird I think belief in an afterlife should disqualify someone from making life-or-death decisions for others. I don't expect this viewpoint to ever be popular, but I wish it were discussed more.

dreamed that I was re-watching some Marvel movie that doesn't exist in reality. it's always odd when in a dream I'm "remembering" something that didn't happen. "oh yeah I love what happens next in this scene", which never happened anywhere before

[LLMs/genAI] @drakonic "systemic failure" is an odd rebuttal, it's sort of saying "LLMs are *not* part of the system", or maybe, "in some hypothetical non-existent system, LLMS do not have any negative effects". that's a citation needed. there are like zero existing examples of "system P with […]

thinking, if I create a new open source thing now, I'll try pre-forking it: set up an explicit fork where LLM contribs are ok, and let the LLM folk worry about keeping it in sync. not sure what barrier there should be for bringing LLM changes upstream to core. maybe, whoever's championing the […]

in my bubble, I've seen several anti-LLM fork of pro-LLM projects. most of these are small efforts, the viability is questionable, but it's not obviously doomed. what about the opposite? are there pro-LLM forks of anti-LLM projects?

@Tijn @mjdxp it doesn't have to be just basic properties. you can have rules for cards that have a picture or a name of a fruit, rules for pairs of cards that have the same number of circles visible, etc.

I mean.. given this setup, you could spend a couple hours training a small neural net and probably get better results. Jev seems ok for one-off ad-hoc tasks, but I'm not really seeing the value for production uses. If you have the dataset to verify you've written a good structured question for […]

The "Jev plays DOOM" demo is... very weird. Jev doesn't do image inputs, so it's given a structured text description of the current player state, and it ranks the possible actions you offer (press left, press space, etc). It does ok in a generic sense. It's not specifically trained to play DOOM […]

One of the things they say Jev is bad at is adversarial inputs. Jev is better than LLMs in that instead of asking Jev for a freeform text response, you give Jev a bunch of possible answers to your question, and it gives you the score for each answer. It's basically a pre-trained classifier for […]

I'm also a little weirded out by this answer they give about Jev's training data > We make all the data ourselves. We wouldn’t train on your data even if you asked us to (no offense). What in the world does that mean? "We're filtering Common Crawl, which isn't your data"? Or "We use an LLM to […]

Typesafe AI's Jev is interesting, and it might be better (and cheaper) than rawdogging LLMs, but it's still a magic blackbox language model. Their cookbook examples are all "attach some ceremonial gems to a natural language question, and Jev will point at the gems that answer the question […]
