A WH official insisted these PSAs were not political and implied they did not violate campaign finance laws because Trump is not on the ballot and there is no call to action. They also point to past presidential PSAs. Again, this ad is about Trump. The song repeats "Love me" ffs 3/3

I also asked about how much the ads cost, which department funded them, and how long they would be running, but did not get an answer to any of those questions. When it airs on TV, it says "funded by the U.S. Government" 2/

The research company denies any connection to Median and said the address listed for Median is connected to the neighboring mailbox company. That also appears to check out, at least on paper but there's no way to prove otherwise. 6/

Median's registration lists a phone number tied to an Oregon-based domain privacy company. My calls to that number weren't returned. That company, Digital By Design and Median, however, both have a physical address in North Carolina. 4/

Median has a similar name to a Hungarian polling firm, Medián. The executive director of the firm says his firm has no US connection to Median, is fully Hungarian-owned, and has no US ties. Federal database searches back up his statement. 3/

Median's domain was registered on August 10th using private Cloudflare servers. Its registrants' names are masked with a data replacement service. It's not registered in any state or federal database as an official entity. 2/

I highly recommend reading this. Critical lesson for pollsters and campaigns alike: primary voters are really fucking old. Also, it's been a minute since I worked with the WI voter file, but it had north of 10% unknown ages when I did. That doesn't help.
