White Mesa Ute Community Marks 10th Annual Spiritual Walk to Oppose Uranium Mill and Radioactive Waste
The White Mesa Ute Community will hold its 10th annual spiritual walk on October 17 to protest the Energy Fuels uranium mill and raise concerns about the potential impacts of radioactive waste processing on the community’s water, air, land, culture and sacred sites. The community-led rally and spiritual walk will begin at 11 a.m. MDT at the White Mesa Ute Community Center. Participants will then walk approximately five miles on relatively flat pavement to the Energy Fuels uranium mill, located just north of the community and east of Bears Ears National Monument.
