How comics actually work: some pages take an hour and some pages take eight hours and they're not always the ones you'd think. There are sometimes entire weeks taken up by research that MUST be completed before you can progress. And you also must account for several days lost to the Horrors

From a CBC article about teaching in the time of AI. I think it's relevant to art, too. Creating is an exercise in frustration tolerance to a degree: when making something you've never attempted, that no one's attempted, there is no right answer, but process and experience will lead you to one.

i think if comics publishing wants to be taken seriously, publish nonfiction, or anything involving serious research, it needs to grow up and recognize that it doesn't get to have it both ways. you can't skate by on "it's not that serious of a medium." you're throwing your cartoonists under the bus

Hanawa in Hawaii (Hanawaii?)

One of my strongest beliefs about comics is that referring to it as “(writer’s) comic” alone will be a mistake 97% of time. I don’t even like when trades are “(character), by (writer).” It’s a reflection of a labor imbalance, a suggestion that words and art are hierarchical. It’s really boring, dude
