If every state follows Texas, the "united" in United States is essentially void. We're just independent states with no obligation to each other. Fine. Blue states can stop funding red-state welfare, since they have no obligation to support the citizens of another sovereign state. So be it.

I wish I shared your optimism. We've backslid on economic, social, environmental, global justice, etc. I realize there's progress in pockets, but the right has done so much damage, retains so much power, that it's going to be a slog just to get back to where we were - let alone where we should be.

I gleefully voted for both Hillary and Kamala, but the 3rd time is not likely to be a charm. The country is simply not ready to elect a woman president. That 2 unquestionably qualified women candidates lost to the *least* qualified male candidate in history is a sad, stark reminder of this fact.
