Canada is refusing to issue ISBNs to books primarily generated with AI. This illustrates both the urgency of the problem of the growing flood of slop books, and also the toothlessness of addressing it on the honor system without there also being consequences for lying

This is a good illustration of how so much of AI theft isn't indirect (ie, data sucked into a model to train the chatbot) - it's actually **direct** copying, but *enabled* by GenAI. Of course it is: chatbots absolutely suck at creating good, new stuff.

I will miss this doctor. She diagnosed K with Ulcerative Colitis and literally saved his life, and has managed his care since. I can't say enough nice things about her. Amazingly collaborative, great bed side manner, and responsive to questions and needs.
