The thing about that WaPo editorial that kills me is that they took stats showing a massive concentration of wealth in the top .1%, concluded that life is just getting worse and worse for the wealthy because extra income means extra taxes. That’s literally the opposite of the right takeaway.

Also: (a) you don’t have to choose; you can raise taxes on people making $300K and raise them even more on people making millions of dollars; and (b) the more money you make, the less of it you need, as a percentage. Wealthy folks’ share of taxes is supposed to be bigger than their share of income.

My old job hired me as a temporary hire for a job tailored to exactly me (it was part 2 of a negotiation I led part 1 of). Then the temp period ended and they listed my job and made me apply for it, but also made me field calls from other interested applicants. It was the worst possible process.

It’s frustrating, because he isn’t less competent now than he was when elected. He’s horrible and criminal, like he always was. The remedy for that is impeachment, which has lower requirements than 25th amendment removal anyway.

A reminder: for the 25th amendment to be invoked without Trump’s consent, Vance, a majority of Trump’s cabinet, and 2/3 of the house and senate have to agree to vote him out. It’s not happening unless the GOP is more scared of Trump being president than they are of Trump’s voters.

The two-party system has problems. There are reforms that might help, but there are real constitutional and practical impediments to getting them done quickly. And until we get those reforms done, a two-party system is what we will have, so maybe also work on getting the not-Trump folks elected.

Yeah, it’s insane. But Trump is mostly doing stuff everyone knew he would do. And the harm to people they hate is frontloaded, but the consequences to themselves are on a long enough tail that they’ll have time to blame someone else for them. Not quite like schoolhouse rock led me to believe.
