More often than not, they're fake, and have profiles spread across multiple sites and even fake personal blogs with fake vacation photos. It's fucking bizarre the amount of effort that must go into this, all to avoid paying actual people. 2/2

This is genuinely one of the reasons I've worked in vet med/animal care for so long, even though it's physically and mentally draining, and frequently doesn't pay well. At the end of the day I know I'm doing something useful, and making things better for the animals and owners I encounter.

No idea if this is still happening, but in a public high school in Massachusetts in 2002 you could be sent to the office/get detention if you didn't stand for the pledge of allegiance every morning. You didn't have to actually SAY it, a fact which I reminded people of at every opportunity.

A totally fair freak out - I went to a boarding school in rural NH and we had a bunch of students from NYC that couldn't get a hold of their families for hours. So far as I know, they all got in touch eventually and everyone was okay, but it was really scary.

Wtf is wrong with people? I've had so many conversations (as a vet tech, dog walker, with family, etc) that go like this: "Have you tried... keeping them inside?" "Oh well I can't, they just really want to go out and there's nothing I can do about it." 🙄🙄🙄
