Some underseen gems: The Infinite Man: an Aussie take on Groundhog Day/Palm Springs. Very funny with a smart script. Artifice Girl: takes ideas of AI, Ex Machina, and Blade Runner. Low budget, excellent, thought provoking. Aniara: Swedish low budget. Picked up by Arrow. Kicks you in the feels.

Just finished Robocop: Rogue City (which was excellent), so obviously I had to get me some Robocop in. The game takes place between Robocop 2 and 3. Ive watched the second entry fairly recently, so yeah, I'm going in to a rewatch of the third. I know what I've signed up for. #filmsky

It was back in early July I rewatched Unbreakable. I'd been wanting to first time watch Split and Glass (still not yet watched), so had to rewatch Unbreakable of course. This lead to me going through the Shyamalan verse. Mixing in rewatches with new watches, he's risen to the top of my Directors.

I tried to have a think about competitors to Zendaya for most watched @letterboxd.social actress, but I've got nothing. Some great years for many women, but not many doing her numbers. My only outside bet is Emma Stone. But, like with the males, the leaders have been in more popular films.

Never bet against Willem Dafoe either. Released this year: Nosferatu (not in the UK) Saturday Night Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Kinds of Kindness Poor Things (UK + VOD) He also has the Eggers verse, which people may revisit ahead of Nosferatu, and a super strong back catalogue. He always ranks high.

Another outside bet, Mr Pascal. Gladiator II The Wild Robot He doesn't quite have the "popular" back catalogue to fall back on however, and both Hemsworth and Chalamet have more popular films released this year.

This year, Chalamet is obviously the lead in Dune Part II. Loads of people will have watched/rewatched Dune Part I. He's also in A Complete Unknown, which won't get a worldwide release in 2024, but still will do numbers. Wonka hit streaming/VOD. The Interstellar anniversary was a big hit.

Been thinking about the @letterboxd.social 2024 year in review that will drop in January and who the most watched actor/actress will be. Zendaya is a shoe in for actress, having been in the top two most popular films (Dune Part II and Challengers). But actor? I'm betting it's a Dune Part II star.
