Lately it's been very difficult to talk to people on why I'm against Gen AI. They quickly end up agreeing this technology is making everything worse in a planetary scale and then...they just admit they don't care about it enough. How can you argue with someone that accepted their own doom?

As the world of corporate work gets worse by the day, most of us don't have time for regular sessions anymore. Unless your target public is mainly formed by high schoolers, a medium-big campaign should be designed as an anthology of interconnected one-shots.

Am I too crabby to think rad aesthetics aren't enough to make a good poster? I see a lot of really cool posters online that simply don't communicate a thing beyond "look how cool I look". wasn't the whole idea of designing posters to bring attention to events, causes or products?

The more I study and dive deeper into knowledge the more I feel lonely and isolated from my own reality. Maybe that's a common feeling from people who get real deep studying for too long. I must confess it's kinda sad. You end up in a very empty place. Bittersweet.

I honestly find the TTRPG book prices prohibitive in Brazil. Don't get me wrong, I know book production is expensive as heck these days. I'm an editorial designer afterall. But see: a non-rpg book usually costs around 50 to 90 bucks here. Crowdfunding rpg books are like 250 bucks. C'mon.

Much respect to all illustrators out there. Drawing cool stuff is unbelievably hard. It takes a lot of time to draw what you would call a mere sketch of a very simple idea. I can't imagine how long it takes to get to a professional level. Years and years of uninterrupted practice.

I've just watched BBC 1992 masterpiece of found footage horror "Ghostwatch". This was so bloody good. Probably the best found footage horror I've ever saw (and I saw a lot of them).

In a certain way, you can say solo TTRPGs are gamified worldbuilding. The player's agency through the PCs is a tool not only to explore the fictional world, but especially to create it while doing so. I find it exciting and dive deeper on it down this thread (with a solo dungeon design example)

For me, one of the pillars of solo TTRPGs is "no prep". The mystery of that fictional world usually would be hidden behind the veil of the Masters prep... but you have no masters here, right? Prepping would kill the discovery and this discovery is THE game you're chasing.

I'm testing using usage dice for monsters HP (homebrewed, of course). Surprisingly, it works pretty well for combat and morale tests both. It simplifies the monster sheet into two stats: usage die and dmg die (and maybe some Armour value so you add an extra difficulty layer to the bigger creatures)

It's already emotional enough to be in front of a Yoshitaka Amano's original painting, but I had real tears runnning down my face in front of this Gatchaman animation cell (pic 2). The first anime I remember watching on TV 30 years ago. It changed my brain chemistry forever. Thank you, Mr. Amano.

My current challenge on drawing is the likeness when I compare what I'm drawing to the reference photo. The final drawing is already good, but I feel I still need to sharpen my observation skills a bit more. It's a (really) fine tuning what makes a face look a specific way.

In 2 years (or less) I'll be ready to start taking illustration commissions. Before doing it, I'll probably re-structure my Itch and DrivethruRPG pages and include 28mm scale paper minis (probably mythical bronze age themed). I'll also produce video content redesigning book covers in my style.

After 18 months studying drawing here the lessons learned: 1. Drawing is easy. Drawing what you're looking at is damn hard. 2. Quantity leads to quality 3. Drawing small is harder than drawing medium/big 4. Study faces before poses before hands before clothing before shadows before colors.

I'm currently reading Ovid's Metamorphosis. I'm going slow paced, but man, Old Testament Yahweh is a hippie pacifist in comparison to these Greek gods. I can't turn two pages withoutyet another passionate crime of the worst kind. Greek gods had no love for humankind whatsoever.

My 2 cents: I was somewhat successful 2020-2024 because of 1) US dollar/Brazilian real currency exchange 2) pandemic unusual e-commerce behavior I've earned a lot of money doing graphic design for other authors and publishing my own 2 games. Still, I don't believe in the TTRPG industry. 1/2

After 5 seasons I can say for sure that Tony Soprano is an actual demon wearing a human flesh. What a disgraceful guy he is. His luck was to be played by James Gandolfini so we can't escape Jim's magnetic charisma.
