How much has John Tory cost Toronto? Something his opponents could challenge him with. Start with the cost of rerunning the mayoral election in 2023. I've talked to some conservatives who are incensed about that cost and want him to pay it back himself if he runs.

Carney said what critical voices - and most of the non-West - have being saying for years: the rules-based order is structurally unjust and unequal - and is decaying as a result. Carney didn't say anything new. But he has granted the mainstream the ability to voice & accept this reality.

Many supporters of Bill 21 (and now Bill 94) insist secularism legislation aims “to protect women and gender equality.” Trust me when I tell you, most don’t give a damn. Femonationalism & gendered Islamophobia are all the rage these days. Just a tiny sample from this morning.👇

Two things can be true at the same time, Canada. 1. Yes, I’m disappointed with some of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s approaches so far, particularly around climate action, and his definations of “nation-building.” We should expect better. 2. Carney is still light-years better than Pierre Poilievre.

the last time a World Series game was played at SkyDome in Toronto, it was in 1993 against the Phillies and their catcher was Darren Daulton. Later, his Phillies teammate, Gary Varsho, named his son after Daulton, and Daulton Varsho just homered for the Blue Jays at SkyDome in the World Series

My statement on the two year anniversary of October 7, 2023.
“Two years ago today, Hamas carried out a horrific war crime, killing more than 1,100 Israelis and kidnapping 250 more. I mourn these lives and pray for the safe return of every hostage still held and for every family whose lives were torn apart by these atrocities.

In the aftermath of that day, Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli government launched a genocidal war: adeath toll that now far exceeds 67,000; with the Israeli military bombing homes, hospitals, and schools into rubble. Every day in Gaza has become a place where grief itself has run out of language. I mourn these lives and pray for the families that have been shattered. Our government has been complicit through it all.

This must end. The occupation and apartheid must end. Peace must be pursued through diplomacy, not war crimes, and our government must act to end these atrocities and hold those responsible to account.

These last two years have demonstrated the very worst of humanity. We must answer it by modeling the very best: a relentless pursuit of our higher ideals and an unwavering commitment to universal human rights.”

Article text:

These voices will grow. There's a risk that tangible punishment will be directed at Israel beyond steps by the International Criminal Court at The Hague, with lethal financial and diplomatic results.

The Netanyahu government's choir of thugs and the poison machine it has been operating will immediately decry typical victimization: the Gentiles are antisemites. They hate us. They've always been against us. They support terrorism – while we fight terrorism. In truth, these governments aren't anti-Israeli, they oppose the Israeli government. They believe the government has declared war on the state of Israel and its inhabitants, and it may have caused irreversible damage.
