Note that the barely visible pink dot in the corner for WA has our state Republicans and billionaires up in arms.
Cartogram showing the state tax revenue sources of each state. The map is shaped like the United States. Nationwide 44% of state revenue comes from income tax, 12% comes from other taxes, and 45% comes from sales tax. Income tax is colored pink, other is colored grey, and sales is colored yellow. Washington State is in the corner of the map with its square mostly yellow colored with a literal 1 by 1 pixel in the top right corner showing the state's new capital gains tax.A zoomed in picture of the Washington State's tax rectangle, the income tax revenue is now about 3 pixels big.

Today in the Seattle Times. This person wants every house in Seattle to cost $3 million dollars.
From the Seattle Times Rants and Raves section: RANT to city zoning that continues to promote the destruction of family-sized housing. No wonder single-family houses are so expensive — the demand is there, yet the zoning to encourage housing for families to be built is not.

Asking about Pratt definitely was trying to push an agenda but I'd love to see someone dig into and write up the current understanding of the "right wing media network" in Seattle. Like why did I see a picture of Suarez wearing a "Pratt for LA" hat in Seattle? How is Kim connected to the network?

If this is the closest entrance the driver could have entered the tracks on then that means they drove over 1/4 a mile to get stuck at the station.

BIG KATIE!
In the end, Wilson said, Harrell put the project on ice and she thawed it.

"It was something I did," she said. "It was a plan that had been
recommended (to Harrell) and then walked back."

Wilson said if the city is serious about having no deaths or serious injuries on
the roads, it needs to be more assertive in slowing drivers down.

From the Seattle Times: "This is not just about bicyclists," Wilson said. "This is about opening up that
street to people walking, to people pushing strollers, to be a place where
people aren't worried about being hit by a car."

Show me any other discipline where that strategy has worked.

Medicine: Yeah, patients come and go. we don't need to be so fastidious about sterile procedure. We've got antibiotics so what's a few septic infections between friends.

Engineering: So what if a few bridges fall? More bridges, more traffic. Win-win.

Air Travel: The great thing about plowing into the ground at the speed of sound is you don't have to dig any graves.

My former precinct 43-3700 is always a weird one. It's in the middle of SLU but is right leaning. Why? The Mirabella retirement community! There's 5 different apartment buildings in the precinct but Mirabella made up 69% of the votes in Nov. 68% of the voters in November were above the age of 73!
Precinct SEA 43-3700 as compared to the entire city. They voted heavily for Sara Nelson, Bruce Harrell, and Ann Davison. Less so far Rachel Savage. Turnout was near the 100 percentile for the city.A pie chart showing the street number of voters in November. 116 Fairview Ave N is the Mirabella retirement community.A histogram showing birth years for the precinct. Over half of the precinct is above the age of 73. The other big bar is that 62 of the 405 voters in the precinct were born between 1992 and 2002.

At 55.13% turnout for Seattle this election is now the second highest turnout since 2021 which had 55.30% turnout. Before 2011 it's precinct data only which would make getting turnout numbers painful.

Asked ChatGPT to proofread something. Of course it tried to insert an em dash
“The reason they are losing, in my view, is that they did a poor job of addressing the local concerns of Seattle voters starting in early 2024 with one of the top concerns being affordability.”
→ A little long and mixed in tense. Try:
“In my view, they’re losing because they failed to address local concerns—especially affordability—starting in early 2024.”

Minor part of the CARE department announcement today but Chief Barden positively acknowledged former CMs Herbold and Lewis for pushing for a 3rd independent public safety department. CMs from the last council never get brought up positively by current city leaders so hearing this was surprising.
