Great work by all, led by @ashishchemist.bsky.social A very rare example where a new catalytic reaction reveals a very fundamental organometallic question (Why is reductive elimination - and the reverse oxidative addtn - kinetically so much more favorable for Os than the isoelectronic Ir complex?)

We are thrilled to share that final version of our work is now published in JACS Au doi.org/10.1021/jacs... Congratulations @ashishchemist.bsky.social @random-chemist.bsky.social @sohamchakraborty.bsky.social @catalyzer.bsky.social Faraj, Tom & River #JACSAu #Catalysis #OlefinCoupling

Olefin Coupling Catalyzed by (Pybox)Os Complexes via Osmacyclopentane Intermediates: Comparison with Isoelectronic (Phebox)Ir
(Pybox)Os is found to catalyze alkene hydrovinylation, effecting the dimerization of ethylene, tail-to-tail coupling of propene and 1-butene, and cross-coupling of ethylene with higher α-olefins. This...

Check out this preprint from @goldmangroup.bsky.social on (Pybox)Os-catalyzed tail-to-tail homo/hetero coupling of α-olefins. Striking mechanistic differences from isoelectronic (Phebox)Ir shed light on fundamental steps of oxidative addition and reductive elimination. doi.org/10.26434/che...

One of our group members, @sohamchakraborty.bsky.social will be presenting tomorrow at #ACSSpring2025! Stop by and hear about his work on alkane dehydrogenation using Pybox-ligated metal complexes
Presentation at 9:40am on Wednesday March 26, 2025. Room: hall G/H - Room 5 (San Diego convention center)

Check out this work from @goldmangroup.bsky.social in JACS @acsjacs.bsky.social telling an interesting story on bizarre selectivities for alkane dehydrogenation, H/D exchange and much more. Congrats to our very own Ashish @ashishchemist.bsky.social, Faraj, Tom and Alan @catalyzer.bsky.social

Great work by @ashishchemist.bsky.social and Prof. Faraj Hasanayn (AUB) demonstrating an unprecedented mechanism for double C-H activation of alkanes leading to dehydrogenation (and the reverse, olefin hydrogenation) and H/D exchange all with bizarre selectivity.

Check out this preprint go.shr.lc/4f6mlGG by @ashishchemist.bsky.social of @goldmangroup.bsky.social reporting (iPrPCP)IrH+ for dehydrogenation, hydrogenation & H/D exchange with unusual selectivity. Proceeding via a novel mechanism of C-H addition and beta-H elimination. @catalyzer.bsky.social

Alkane Dehydrogenation and H/D Exchange by a Cationic Pincer-Ir(III) Hydride: A Novel Mechanism of C-H Addition and 𝛽-H Elimination Leads to Unprecedented Selectivity
We report that the cationic iridium complex (iPrPCP)IrH+ undergoes addition of alkane C-H bonds, which is manifested by catalytic alkane transfer-dehydrogenation to give alkenes and by hydrogen isotop...
