New blog post: How to 1 Credit Clear (1CC) Arcade Games I get asked about this from time to time so I thought I'd write a post about it. There's nothing groundbreaking here, but hopefully it helps make arcade games feel a little less intimidating. They're just games! duckberet.com/blog/how-to-...

I generally dont think purity testing and gatekeeping in arcade spaces is productive or helpful but ngl the larp epidemic on twitter is a perfect argument for the good ol "post scores/clears" response

Genuinely unique and challenging game. Dev managed to remove the attack button and tie it to movement input, with your attack coming out with proximity. Enemies are nasty (compliment), and the great part is you can bully them and set them up to beat the whole crowd as much as they can bully you.

I hate to do this but I'm drowning and reaching out for help is my only choice now. Explanation w/ Alt text in the screenshots. If you want to help out an impoverished trans woman stay off the street and have the means to do so, I'll be so grateful💛🏳️‍⚧️ paypal.me/NicholasJabb... cash.app/$JulietStMoon

@everyone **PLEASE READ THIS NOTIFICATION BEFORE DISMISSING**

I absolutely loathe to do this, but I need some financial help and I'm out of options. Here are my pay links in order of preference. Any amount that you are willing to give without putting yourself in financial danger helps. Following below will be an explanation:
* https://paypal.me/NicholasJabbour
* https://cash.app/$JulietStMoon

Some of you know I lost my job back in June due to what was effectively legalized discrimination against me based on illness and my transness in a Southern state. The timing couldn't be worse because I was already financially slipping and struggling to find a cheaper apartment to alleviate the strain. And on top of that, I just couldn't find work at all for over a month. No one in the South was willing to hire a trans woman, let alone with a wage high enough to pay my bills and feed me.

As a desperate gambit, I withdrew what little 401K deposit I had and moved up north to a state that, if nothing else, wouldn't be actively hostile to my existence. With the hopes that I could weather the initial instability, find a job and housing, and eventually settle in.

It has now been a month since I moved. My money is completely gone and I have neither long term housing nor a job despite my best efforts. My bank account is in the negative, I'm drowning in debt that's been building for years, I have multiple unpaid bills that absolutely need to be paid for my own safety and sustainability, and I need food and medication, of which I have neither. And this airbnb I rented for a month (which is absolutely bare minimum; I don't even have kitchen access outside the microwave and fridge) runs out on the 24th.

(Please continue)

The good news is I did secure 2 job interviews after all this time, one tomorrow for a part time job about 40 minutes from here, and another Tuesday for a more practical full time job in my current town. However as it stands, I literally don't have enough money for gas to get to tomorrow morning's interview, and I absolutely CAN'T miss it as it's the first real callback I got after applying to dozens of jobs, including going door to door in my town. I can make this work, but I NEED to buy more time, and I lack the money to do it. And that's why I'm asking for help.

I appreciate anything anyone can offer more than you can possibly know. Below are rough estimates of how much money I need and when. How far I will continue to need help depends on how quickly I get hired
## Expenses I need paid tonight (2026-09-06)
* $50– Tank of Gas (I'm almost empty and I need get to and from interview tomorrow morning)
* $50– Dinner tonight and meals tomorrow (have not eaten since this morning)
* **$100 total**
## Expenses I need paid by the end of tomorrow (2026-09-07)
* $50– medication that I'm annoyingly running out of all at the exact same time after tomorrow (including my blood pressure meds, which I do not want to risk skipping).
* $100– Grocery shopping (not sure how long this will last, but I'll have time to actually do so and greatly reduce how much money i need to spend on food daily, even if i am limited to the fridge the microwave and I'll be as economical as possible)
* $10– Laundromat and possible cost of street parking as I drive to these interviews (this is a rough estimate; hopefully it'll be less)
* **$160 total**

(Please continue)

## Expenses I ideally need paid by the end of the week (2026-09-12)
* $60– Overdue car insurance payment (it was due the 1st)
* $100– Overdue storage unit (it was also due the 1st and has what few belongings I was able to stuff in my car when I moved. It's out of state and my plan is to pay it off and move all the belongings to a much more local unit that's dramatically cheaper)
* $80– Replace a flat tire (my car is currently on a donut and it's unlikely my flat tire can be patched)
* $150– Get my overdrawn checking and overmaxed credit card back in passable standing
* **$390 total**
## Further expenses throughout the month
I will continue to need money for groceries, though I don't have a number yet. And I'll need money for a place to stay after the 24th (this airbnb was the cheapest I could find in the area and it cost $1139 for a month for context, but I can also rent cheaper shorter term places that will hopefully bridge me over until I get a job started and get myself back a float in general. I have way more expenses and debts to pay including a maxed out credit card and a loan and medical bills, but those can all be pushed back so I rather not put that on you.

Point is, every bit you are willing to help me with AND WITHOUT PUTTING YOURSELF IN FINANCIAL DANGER will be so so helpful to me.

I'm really sorry to ask for help. I hate doing it. I want to be the saint and not the sainted as much as I can help. But I'll try my best to not doom over that and accept whatever you can offer if you wish. Please and thank you so much.

If a game connected with you & changed your tastes in some meaningful way pls do urself favor and dig up the devs, their past work, their scene/peers & their influences. Don't be like those ppl who find the latest game in a long tradition & treat it like an exception

Devil May Cry has a really great family tragedy story with super strong characters both at their core and in their character but it gets reduced to Dante screaming woo hoo on a rocket and that moonwalking clip because people can't comprehend story arcs in wrestling

you ought to include the followup post which points out that touhou has been doing this the whole time

keeping in mind I don't actually know which touhou games these are from because I've never played a touhou shmup, but

this one says

SELECT MODE

EASY (For people who aren't good at STGs)
NORMAL (Ideal for most People)
HARD (Arcade difficulty)
LUNATIC (For weird people)

this one was properly sourced so I know it's from ten desires.

the difficulty modes are:

Prayer for Health and Long Life
EASY MODE
Hard to die. For those that want to live a long time.

Prayer for Traffic Safety
NORMAL MODE
Let's find a safe road. Here's to a good journey.

Prayer for Business Prosperity
HARD MODE
If you're confident in your abilities, you should be able to make a profit.

Prayer for IT Data Security
LUNATIC MODE
Asking the gods for help is pointless. Don't play this.

another one that says

New Moon / Easy Level / For those who don't play Touhou very much

Crescent Moon / Normal Level / For those who play Touhou oftens

First Quarter Moon / Hard Level / For those who often play STGs

Waxing Gibbous Moon / Lunatic Level / Not suited for anyone

and this one says:

EASY MODE
For Sunday Shooters
For humans with busy lives

NORMAL MODE
For Active Gamers
For people who enjoy these kinds of games

HARD MODE
For Gensokyo Residents
For people that don't fit in the real world

LUNATIC MODE
For the Lost Race
For people who think they're the chosen ones

very bad news. the IOF pushed the yellow line past Abod's house. now, his family lives in official "shoot on sight" territory. he's telling me not to worry, but i'm really, really scared. as always, anything you can give helps my best friend & his family survive. chuffed.org/project/119736

screencapped instagram conversation with Abod. reads as follows:
Abod: Yes, I am within the yellow line. There are cubes that extend beyond our house, and there are cubes that run parallel to the house as well. I hope we don't leave home for good unless it's outside Gaza.
me: oh, god, Abod, i'm so worried for you. i trust that you will keep your family safe. how much food do you have in the house? can you stay inside for a few days?

continued conversation, which reads as follows:
Abod: Not everything. We need to bring water every two days. We also get bread every two days from the bakery. But we have rice. The vegetables won't keep well becauseof the heat, and there's no working refrigerator since there's no electricity. I'll only be able to keep them for a day or two befre they spoil. But the situation is safe and good so far. There's no danger, don't worry, my love."

It will never stop being funny to me that the street fighter subreddit has a much better, well reasoned ai policy vis a vis literally all universities.

Hi, thanks for posting! We do appreciate you thinking of us even though we have to moderate.

Our stance on all AI generated content (Images, Video, Voiceovers, and whatever else LLM based AI gets up to in the future):

At best, they are approximations of street fighter characters as the AI has no clue what it is trying to create. Because of this, there is no street fighter content so they are not allowed. (rule 1)

Also, they aren't allowed per our source rule. As AI sources cannot be tracked, we must assume that they use uncredited sources in the learning data. (rule 5)

Finally, AI images, video, text, and voiceovers are barely any different than posting a screenshot of a google search. The level of effort is so low that we consider it spam (rule 3).

Because of these reasons, AI art and other AI content is not allowed.

If you would like to contact the moderators about this removal, you can do so here.
