The ignore cap needs to be lifted. There is no sane reason for it to be 50 players per character - and at that, not conveying at all anywhere whether or not it applies account-wide both ways. You also can’t even see the list of ignores from across your characters.

Ignores need to remove the response “Player is ignoring you.” There should be zero feedback.

If just these two things were implemented, it would solve a lot of issues people have with avoiding players they don’t want to play with, especially now with Certain Streamers making mega multi-guild networks in WoW Forever.

This isn’t even the beginning because clearly reporting functions just aren’t working and moderation is basically a bunch of smoke and mirrors to fool us. There are numerous people on RP servers who consistently are giving creepy whispers and just get away with it despite being reported constantly. There’s harassment and stalking issues where people are never banned.

And then there’s probably some of the most incompetent security ever implemented when it comes to player data. There’s numerous third party websites that can scan the armory and track every single one of your alts, all the more made easier for them with warband-ifying everything. People use mounts, pets, pet names, and other various collections to verify your alts so that they can continue to stalk and harass you because you chose a new alt because the reporting systems didn’t work.

The way we have any sort of privacy in this game is utterly laughable, and we now have streamers with massive cult fanbases who seem fit to test whatever rules they can break and how far they’ll go. They even target your own devs and harass them off of platforms. Is that not insane???

Something clearly needs to be done. I shouldn’t have to begin designing an addon myself to scan every single player’s guild to see if they match up and put them on self-crafted mute functionalities just to avoid being harassed in this game. Nobody should require third party solutions for this. This is a complete failure of Blizzard moderation tools and it needs to be fixed soon or you’re about to lose a lot of the “community” you keep trying to emphasize with WoW Forever.

For transparency since I was following this situation, this is the tweet Tom Ellis made that aggravated the bigot community. As you can see the tweet is really not offensive and it is honest that they weren't banning Bigus Dickus names, they were forcing a name change. The bans were for the bigots.

Anyone saying they were removed from beta for naming their character "Billy Mcsuckmahballz" is telling little white lies. That character likely just received a forced name change.
Multiple unfortunate humans read through every name that was removed from beta today.
If you're genuinely confused, remember that it's our database, we can see every character you've-- (can't read)
I read the list. No sympathy. Be a better human next time.

Well honestly I should know better than to have waded into that swamp, that's on me. Since we're here now I'll give one more update on this topic before getting back to actually working on launch instead of reading everyone's hilarious variations of the N word.
A couple of us spent the evening reading through everything again and checked every Reddit post and twitter and so far every one of them who's posted their three cheeky or just inappropriate names has had a 4th character they have accidentally omitted. We've found exactly one person who we genuinely think was going for an RP sounding name and ran head first into the sad fact we have way too many derogatory terms for some people. I'm going to have yet another poor sod read through it again too so we have yet another perspective.

What else have I seen a lot, ok yep, Blizzard is going extra woke or other crap like that. Nope, any name we revoked beta for yesterday would have not been allowed in any variation of WoW at any time in its history and would have earned you a suspension. We just manually ran names through the same system they would have been normally and then out of an abundance of caution read through every one.
No new standards have been set or enforced for Forever's Beta.
Our naming filter wasn't ready to rock for dual names but we naively thought after twenty years folks knew what was and wasn't ok and we'd be fine for a few weeks of beta till it came online. Yeah.
