I’m against most AI applications , particularly that it’s being shoved down our throats, any weapons, job loss, garbage creativity, deep fakes and hacking. I have, however, found a use personal use for AI-translating and deciphering handwritten documents from the 1800s for genealogical research.

Periodically, #hyperfocus takes over, and genealogical research makes leaps! I'm particularly interested in several lines of my family which ultimately come from #Scotland and #Ireland, but made generational stops in #Canada. I've emailed a new genealogist in #Ontario who my be able to help.

A post from Facebook on April, 29, 2018, which states: "Last night in married life: Joe: I kind of want boozy hot chocolate, but I feel bad because you already had hot chocolate.
Geoff: That wasn't 'hot chocolate,' that was 'birthday chocolate. (chocolate that I got for my birthday-it's a different container than the regular hot chocolate.)
Joe: But you heated up (coconut) milk and poured it over chocolate powder..
Geoff: There isn't a maximum amount of chocolate one can have in a day.
Joe: <trying not to laugh>

My #uiux experience using #Apple #Maps while traveling in Japan. And when I flip back to the app while doing research, the app state refreshes to my current location taking me away from the place I was researching/looking at.

I mean, we got rid of our land line long ago and they don't even serve this area anymore, but anyone from back in the day will remember the snap-krackle-pop that would appear on the phone line after rain or storms. #landline (p.s. yes I know I misspelled apparently.)

One thing I wish #Apple would do in #macOS is respect accessibility settings. So many apps ( #Maps, and #Photos, for example) continue with tiny text, even when the settings in #Accessibility in System Settings is set for larger text. Lots of apps don't respect these settings, which is too bad.

#ADHD is when you incrementally move your earbuds closer to your computer bag, meaning to put them in, but never actually putting them into your computer bag. It becomes so frustrating that you plan to add backup earbuds into your computer bag, which means that there will now be two sets of earbuds.

A new reason I dislike the Face-place: the algorithm shows me a number of posts like "My <insert dog's name> died today." We had a Bernese Mountain Dog for 11.5 years. He passed away in 2020. All these posts are other Berners! These posts usually have pictures of (I hope) sleeping dogs. I mean...🤷‍♂️

As a Geographaphile, the fact that #Apple Maps - the #Maps app and others like #Photos - don't cache even basic base maps, requiring a connection is rather frustrating. When I get "connection issue" and a blank (useless) background, it makes these apps useless until back with high-speed connection.

There are so many things that I dislike about Facebook. My saved items are lost with perpetual "This page isn't available right now" error messages. Also the endless refreshing of the feed, so that when one clicks on a link, reads an article, then wants to go back to comment, the post disappears!

This year I've been using a Lumen device (www.lumen.me). I like using it and the data it generates in my health journey. I do wish it would integrate more with Apple Health. I use a different app for diet tracking and don't want to have to enter everything twice. Still happy with it, though.
