So what does the Critic Magazine stand for? Brexit, culture wars, anti-net-zero, anti-Woke, and apparently the "high priests found in the universities, the civil service, the BBC, the courts, the churches, the arts and the quangos" Because of course it does🤦‍♀️
Wikipedia page for the Critic magazine:

The Critic is a British conservative[6] monthly political and cultural magazine.[7] The magazine was founded in November 2019,[8] with Michael Mosbacher, former editor of Standpoint, and Christopher Montgomery, a strategist with the European Research Group of Eurosceptic Tory MPs,[9] as co-editors. It was funded by its owner Jeremy Hosking,[5][10] a City of London financier and donor to Reform UK,[11] the Conservative party,[5] and Laurence Fox's Reclaim Party,[12] who had previously donated to Standpoint.[13]

Contributors include David Starkey, Peter Hitchens, Douglas Murray, Toby Young, Patrick Kidd, Yuan Yi Zhu and Robert Hutton.[7]History of the magazine from Wikipedia:

Founding co-editor Michael Mosbacher said that Jeremy Hosking had been unwilling to continue funding Standpoint after its board resisted Hosking's demand for more "culture wars content". Mosbacher said of Hosking, "He's a strong Brexiteer, Eurosceptic and right-of-centre, but we are not trying to fit into that narrowly".[5]

Mosbacher characterised The Critic as covering the cultural issues that underpin Brexit.[5] The Times Literary Supplement described it as having a resemblance to The Spectator, with a mission "to criticize the critics".[14] An editorial from the first issue in 2019 attacked "the closed mind", whose "high priests" are found in the universities, "the civil service, the BBC, the courts, the churches, the arts and the quangos".[7] The Critic has been described as combining "more radical forms of populism and more communitarian forms of conservatism", and "[flirting] with the outer-most limits of respectable nationalism".[15] It

Henry Hopwood-Phillips, another Critic writer, ADMITTED 2 counts of taking an indecent photo and 2 counts of distributing indecent images of a child. He now has a sexual harm prevention order and is subject to lifetime sex offender notification requirements 18/
Extract from Daily Mail:

Salem was charged by Thames Valley Police in May this year along with Henry Hopwood-Phillips, a historian and geopolitical analyst. They both wrote for the The Critic magazine as freelance contributors.

Hopwood-Phillips, 39, founded a Singapore-based political consultancy that specialises in analysing China’s geopolitics.

In June he admitted two counts of taking an indecent photograph and two counts of distributing indecent photographs of a child at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court.

He was handed a 15-month suspended sentence, a sexual harm prevention order and made subject to lifetime sex offender notification requirements.

1st, she is claiming she was sent the images unsolicited and reported them to the police We'll need to wait until 2028 to find out what's actually going on there! But the 2nd piece of new information, buried deep in the middle of the article, is that she wasn't the only one charged in this case...
Daily Mail extract:

Salem has been charged with having in her possession between May 19, 2021 and February 13, 2023 three category B indecent images of children, which is the second most serious type.

She is also accused of having a less serious category C indecent image of a child between April 6, 2021 and February 13, 2023.

The academic denied the charges at a pre-trial hearing earlier this year and remains on bail ahead of her trial, which is expected to last two to three days.

It is understood that she will argue in her defence that she was sent the four images unsolicited and that she reported them to the police.

Anyway, 2 days after her pre-trial hearing in September, the Daily Mail quotes a "chum" saying the relationship ended "some time ago" I wonder who the "chum" was?!🤔 9/
From the Daily Mail article:
They’ve parted,’ a chum tells me, adding that Gove has moved out of the west London flat they shared. ‘The split happened some time ago, but all parties have been tight-lipped about the reasons.’

They first publicly emerged as a couple in 2024 when they were pictured arriving at The Spectator magazine’s summer party, with Gove gallantly shielding Lola from the rain with an umbrella.

Gove was later photographed leaning in to kiss her at a London restaurant.

Not long afterwards, Gove, who had just stood down as an MP, was appointed the Spectator’s editor and, though discreet about his newfound love, he didn’t try to keep it secret.

To be fair, IPSO clause 9 does prevent friends and relatives from being named unless it is genuinely relevant. I'm not sure where that stands when the defendant is in a relationship with a former minister, current Lord, and editor of the Spectator? It feels relevant to why she is of interest🤷‍♀️

This is jaw dropping. CBS News still has many credible journalists - including Holly Williams-but the news leadership is clearly in the propaganda business instead. Don’t fall for *this is routine editing* It’s not.
"For the record, my biggest concern about the dictated script that was sent to me was not about the death toll.
It was about the removal of the allegations specific to Benjamin Netanyahu," Williams said, in an apparent reference to reports that Netanyahu had received advanced warning that Hamas was planning a deadly attack against Israel.
Raice said she "actually felt really strong" about the decision not to include the reporting, stating that Netanyahu had denied the claims and CBS News had not "independently confirmed those allegations."
"Secondly, I was just in Israel for Sukkot. I have a lot of friends who live there. We're talking about politics the entire time. Everybody was talking about the election.
Everybody was talking about Netanyahu and October 7.
Nobody was talking about those allegations, " Raice added. "And you know why? Because nobody really cares. That is not an issue in the election."
"Those allegations are a sideshow," Raice added. "It's not important, and I just think you got it wrong. And you probably got it wrong because you don't know the story as well as I do. And that's where my experience and my judgment comes in."

Phyllis, who loved working for Kathleen and saw falling on hand grenades as part of her job, never told her how this one had felt. She knew Gavin had expressed enthusiasm for white nationalists, and he likely knew that she knew. She tried to break the ice by walking in with her hand extended; Gavin stared at it and declined to shake it, though he had shaken the hands of the white men who had offered them. “He was kind of cool towards me,” said Phyllis. Before she could even start the briefing, he said, You know, I’ve heard these rules before at other agencies. Yes, she said, but these rules are different, because no other agency is governed by this privacy law, and this law can get you thrown in jail very quickly. As she walked him through the basics – how you can’t use your personal phone for business, how if you happen to so much as glimpse a form 1040 with someone’s name on it you must avert your eyes – Gavin played on his phone. “He’s multitasking right in front of me, typing and texting,” said Phyllis. “It was, here’s a routine that I must endure.”
