Seriously, Ancestry? Sending hints about my parents was bad enough, especially as the hint about my mum was the wrong person entirely and given I was the person who had completed dad's death registration, I knew he'd died. But the latest takes the biscuit. #genealogy #familyhistory

Continuing my #Ancestry rant - I had the most patronising copy/paste email response from them. No apology. No recognition that sending first degree relations this sort of hint may not be wise. Just appalling.

Can we talk about Ancestry "hints"? Email from them on Saturday saying there was a new hint about my dad! Logged on to be told the hint was his death notice. From 2023. Which I wrote. Bit different from being told about your gg granny. Tactless. Sh*t response from customer service. #genealogy

Ancestry's DNA origins update is the worst yet. A novice researcher looking at my results may think they will be spending 36% of their research in NE England as that's what the blue circle says. Except the blue circle also takes in Roxburghshire, Berwickshire and a bit of E Lothian too. #genealogy

Christmas card signed "Harry Rose-Innes Stalag IVB Barrack 48B".Front cover of a Red Cross charity Christmas card dating from 1946.Message inside the card reads: "Best of luck to you my boy. THREAD on the practice of "SIN-EATING" 🧵 In 19th-century Britain, it was customary during a funeral to provide biscuits for mourners to take away. They were often wrapped and sealed in black wax. Here you see an example of a funeral biscuit wrapper from 1828. 1/9
A wrapper that has yellowed with age. On it is text that reads: "Biscuits for the funeral of Mrs. Oliver. Died November 7th, 1828. Aged 52." Along with a prayer.
