just read a story about a little boy in SC who just learned to ride a bike but he was unvaxxed and got measles and got really sick and got a spinal tap and then pumped with medicines and then his brain swelled anyway and now he won't ever walk or eat on his own and he definitely won't ride a bike

Amanda Gorman wrote this poem for Renee Good and that’s it for me tonight.
Post from Amanda Gorman’s Instagram that says

Killed by ICE. on January 7, 2026
by Amanda Gorman
They say she is no more, That there her absence roars, Blood-blown like a rose.
Iced wheels flinched & froze.
Now, bare riot of candles, Dark fury of flowers, Pure howling of hymns.
If for us she arose,
Somewhere, in the pitched deep of our grief, Crouches our power,
The howl where we begin,
Straining upon the edge of the crooked crater Of the worst of what we've been.
Change is only possible, & all the greater, When the labour
& bitter anger of our neighbors
Is moved by the love
* better angels of our nature.

Our acting CDC director seems comfortable downplaying pediatric respiratory disease by calling it “similar to last year.” Last year wasn’t safe. Children died at record numbers. Public health policy should be built around prevention, not normalization of preventable harm.

This is a fucking nightmare and right now I am very, very angry with the people who put Trump back in office. More and more kids are going to die from preventable diseases. As I have said for months, RFK Jr. has more power to singlehandedly kill more Americans than any other cabinet secretary.

RFK Jr. admits he instructed the CDC to alter its website to hint at a vaccine–autism link. That’s an extraordinary breach of scientific norms. This is not how evidence-based public health works, and it’s not “gold standard” anything.

This is *extremely* dangerous. ICE detained people, including a family with 3 children, in an office building basement in California without enough food or water. Rampant human rights abuses daily. Guardian article: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
Screenshot of highlighted text reading, "The children, the youngest of whom is three years old, were provided a bag of chips, a box of animal crackers and a mini carton of milk as their sole rations for a day. Agents told the family they did not have any water to provide during the family’s first day in detention; on the second day, all five were given a single bottle to share. The one fan in the room was pointed directly towards a guard, rather than towards the families in confinement, they told lawyers."

A huge step from HHS that is at odds with science showing significant risks for young children and pregnant women — and that directly contradicts *the FDA's own publication* from last week listing pregnancy as a high-risk condition that would qualify people for this fall's Covid vaccine
A tweet from HHS secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.:

Today, the COVID vaccine for healthy children and healthy pregnant women has been removed from @CDCgov recommended immunization schedule. Bottom line: it's common sense and it's good science. We are now one step closer to realizing @POTUS's promise to Make America Healthy Again.
