It's quite a lot, though, since a decade of bad economic outcomes usually makes voters think, "Hmm, maybe give that fascism a good old college try."

I mean, you probably should learn absolutely nothing from a British car plant worker in his 90s, and if he tries to teach you how they did it in the 70s and 80s, it's better to just shoot him. I would do much less damage.

Okay, of all the things he does, what's the problem exactly with him buying a mansion?

Who is being harassed with threats of genocide here on Bsky?

Yes, it was indeed the plan; they weren't attempting a landing this time.

Again, you’re lamenting that a space-launch service and communications company is concentrating on, you know, space launches. That is literally its purpose. The nonsense you posted about what it should do instead is not.

What the fuck do you think NYPD's arrest authority is in Ithaca?

Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
I don't see it that way. As I understand New York State law, I don't believe that makes them guilty of a crime. If this had happened in California, they'd be toast. But that's federalism and different criminal laws for you.

Waymo is FSD, and I have no problem with the clankers, as you call them. I used them regularly in Austin. I also don't live in a big city. Where I live, if you want a taxi for New Year's Eve 2030, you'd better have ordered it on New Year's Eve 2020.

They then decide to shut down non-competitive US operations, selling the remains or just shutting them down since they have long been written off. At that point, they purposefully didn't invest in the old US plants for years.

What are you even talking about, and which billionaires and what property do you imagine they move? We're talking about mostly public companies deciding where to expand their operations, and once it is expanded offshore, 1/2

And sure, you can tax capital flight if it hasn't already left before the law passes, but that's a one-time tax event. Does that replace the ongoing business and personal taxes generated by those companies and their employees?

I mean, the danger is real. I personally benefited more than I suffered from outsourcing devastating the Rust Belt, but that wasn't true for many residents, was it?

Okay, so they gloriously struck at the Zionists. Good for them. I'm truly happy for them. I hope they're equally happy with the result. But were there also some negative side effects, maybe?

To be fair, she also doesn't think we need mechanized agriculture, so "abolish data centers" barely even cracks her top ten.

Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
"And also from everywhere else! We do not need data centres, we need clean water and air!"

Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Then maybe he should drive Formula E, and she could write her pamphlets on self-made papyrus instead of using half a dozen social media platforms. Regardless, "we don't need any data centers" is a pretty ironic stance for a social media influencer.
200
Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
It's not the same. It's like a Formula 1 driver lamenting the use of fossil fuels. Nobody forced her to become an anarcho-primitivist online influencer; there are other ways to make a living out there.

Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
"And also from everywhere else! We do not need data centres, we need clean water and air!" You don't think that's a little rich coming from someone who makes their living on the internet, via Patreon, YouTube, and other social media? Really?

Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
This is YouTube. It doesn't use data centers, right? It's run by a lesbian pagan commune living in the woods in Vermont, right?

Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Sorry, how do you spread your New Age mumbo-jumbo nonsense again, through mail-order catalogs, or via the internet and social media running on data centers? Just out of interest.

That's a different argument. You can think SpaceX was overvalued without pretending it hasn't built successful products. If its technology is such a failure, name the other active U.S. launch systems currently carrying humans to orbit.

Launching satellites makes money, and Starlink makes money, I know, I pay for two subscriptions. That revenue helps fund further R&D. Or do you think government contracts alone pay for all this? SpaceX is efficient with money, but not "develop Starship for $2.5 billion" efficient.
200
Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
And compared with $2–4 billion per SLS launch after more than $30 billion in development costs, don't talk to me about money after mentioning that Miscreation.
200
Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Starship is still in the developmental stage, and today was a major step forward. Would I have liked it to succeed earlier? Sure. Did I expect that? Nope. Hell, I didn't even expect it to reach orbit today, let alone successfully deploy satellites, but here we are.
100
Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Yes, that's why Starship is being developed. Isn't that great? Why so negative?
100
Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
They just had some spectacular ones, and in the Shuttle's case, with humans on board, which I believe the technical term for is "suboptimal."
100
Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
And SpaceX has a different testing strategy, one that served them pretty well with Falcon 9, which now dominates commercial launches. I hope it works just as well for Starship. It's not like the Shuttle, New Glenn, etc. never had any "oopsies."
100
Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
I mean, they already have reusable rockets, or did you miss Falcon 9? Starship is still in development, but Flight 14 reached orbit for the first time and deployed 26 actual Starlink V3 satellites. That's real progress, not just another test flight.
200
Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
This is a flight test that also happened to make them some money. It isn't a "here is everything Starship is ever going to be" demonstration.

Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Okay, as someone who regularly talks to his elders, aka Gen Xers and Boomers, I'll take AI over their "wisdom" any day. Have you ever spent 30 minutes talking politics with one of them?

We will not reliably own the airwaves in a conflict with countries like that. So either those drones operate autonomously when communications are jammed, or we should get ready to spend a few trillion dollars on manned platforms again.
000
Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Autonomous drones are different. I'm skeptical, but the consensus here on Bluesky seems to be that drones are the future and spending money on manned fighters is a waste. Fine, but against Russia, let alone China, do you really expect reliable human remote control?
100
Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Automation isn't necessarily a negative in most people's view, especially with many rich and middle-income countries facing rapidly shrinking working-age populations over the next 30 years, and no immigration will not fix it now that most Latin countries also have below-replacement-rate birthrates.

Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
But pretending Israel has pursued a wholesale genocidal project against Palestinians for 80 years, while the Palestinian population in the occupied territories alone grew nearly 10x, is just absurd.
000
Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Again, I'm not saying there hasn't been repression and injustice; there often is in military conflict and occupation.
200
Bourgeois mfer @ghunkinking.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
A quick search shows Gaza's population was somewhere around 200K–250K in 1948, compared with approximately 2.3 million in 2023. In the West Bank, the Palestinian population is estimated at around 400K–500K in 1948, compared with roughly 3.5 million today.
