I picked up @saranahmed.bsky.social 's Complaint! last week before this Cornell shit hit my feed, and MAN is it unbelievably frustrating to hear this kind of take as if this "serious movement" hasn't been ongoing and systematically undermined for decades and decades.

I feel like the key takeaway here is worth highlighting: Inadvertently or otherwise, AI is already at least *trying* to write literal federal laws. Laws that, if passed, humans would be required to adhere to. Like, right now. www.politico.com/news/2026/08...

Hi friends! I am working on doing graphics for a small mammal rescue to help them move away from AI and they are looking for people to match this generous donor’s donation to help fund the rescue! I would so love if you could help get eyes on this ❤️🐾 📎 below
Help us reach our goal!
Bert and Ernie are offering to match donations up to $1000
Helping All Little Things
Helping All Little Things (HALT) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue and sanctuary dedicated to the small animals that are so often overlooked - with a special focus on animals with unique or complex medical needs.
We rescue animals from shelters, owner surrenders, cruelty cases, and hoarding situations. We provide them with expert veterinary care, a safe and loving environment, and - whenever possible - a permanent adoptive home. For animals with terminal or chronic conditions, we offer compassionate sanctuary care so that every animal can live out their days with dignity and love.
Our lovely donors:
Bert and Ernie
You can help reach this goal by donating and sharing this post!

A lot of people don’t realize the dust bowl wasn’t a natural phenomenon. It happened when agrobusiness interests dramatically transformed the plains without regard for drought, and created vicious dust storms that choked whole families to death. That’s what I think of when I read about data centers.

One annoying thing about the WNBA season is that it coincides with precisely the time of year when college football and NFL commentators have their most free time. If Fever games constitute your only exposure to the WNBA, I can see why it might feel like the player who has the ball in her hand more often than anyone else in those games is subject to outsized defensive attention. If slow-motion Twitter clips of Clark being fouled constitute your only exposure to the WNBA, I can really see why it might seem like this stuff happens too often.
