Smart move! Japan is building out #solar on old golf courses Fairways turn out to be an excellent place to put panels About 10% of the country’s large-scale solar capacity now sits on golf courses, with another gigawatt on the way, a new analysis finds:

Japan has no space for solar farms apart from old golf courses
Solar farms need good sunlight, access to the power grid and to be fairly close to residential areas. Many golf courses tick those boxes.

Truly incredible that this is how the media is choosing to eulogize the longest-serving Republican Speaker of the House in US history, who was a serial sexual abuser of children. For all the talk about "deep state" plots to abuse children, no one even remembers this case.
From CBS News: "Former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, who represented Illinois for two decades in Congress and was later jailed for violating banking laws, has died."

The Cornell story is horrific, but I’d like to shine a light on what happened at LSU with a current football player on the team:
In July, the school found Shanklin responsible for "forcible rape" and issued a one-year suspension, which is a full ban from campus and activities, according to documents reviewed by ESPN. After Shanklin appealed, an administrative law judge who handles appeals per LSU policy upheld the finding that the athlete was responsible for "forcible rape," but reduced the punishment to four semesters of probation with no restrictions, which allows Shanklin to remain enrolled and on campus and to participate in activities as long as he stays out of trouble.

Located in the Taihaku Ward of Sendai, Japan, Akiu Great Falls is widely celebrated as one of Japan’s most majestic waterfalls and a designated Place of Scenic Beauty.
Framed by a delicate arbor of snow-draped branches glowing with cool indigo light, Akiu Great Falls (Akiu Ōtaki) cascades through a frozen gorge in Sendai's mountainous western rim. Heavy winter frost encases every twig and bough in pristine white yukisheshō ("snow makeup"), forming a crystalline lattice over the dark basalt cliffs. Below, the churning waters of the Natori River plunge into a deep, shadowed basin, captured in a silky, luminous blur that contrasts against the static, frozen landscape. The scene evokes an intimate winter sensory atmosphere: the biting, clear mountain air of Miyagi Prefecture, the muffled roar of rushing water echoing within the snow-insulated canyon, the clean scent of frozen hemlock and wet stone, and the deep stillness that settles over the valley during a heavy snowfall.
Plummeting 55 meters into the river canyon below, the falls serve as the natural crowning jewel of the Akiu region, famous for its historic hot springs (Akiu Onsen) which have drawn visitors—including the legendary feudal warlord Date Masamune—for over fifteen centuries. This wilderness landscape embodies Sendai’s enduring identity as Mori no Miyako ("The City of Trees"), where refined culture seamlessly yields to untamed forests and rugged mountain gorges.
