Auch spannend: der 29.01. hat die Einschätzung von Politikwissenschaftler*innen verändert und damit wohl viele überrascht. Kooperation bei Sachfragen wird für CDU, CSU & FDP nun als viel wahrscheinlicher eingeschätzt. Danke auch nochmal an das ganze OES-Team für die tolle Arbeit & Auswertung!👏

Vor allem für die Union, aber auch für FDP und BSW sehen die Experten danach eine deutlich gestiegene Kooperationsbereitschaft mit der AfD.

While much of the discussion is about how affective polarization enables backsliding, we use survey data from 🇭🇺 & 🇵🇱 to discuss that backsliding may also affect citizens' attitudes towards the other side. This matters for our understanding of the consequences of affective polarization for democracy💡

Something that broke my💔a bit: the entrance to what was CEU's main building in Budapest when I did my MA there now features a coffee chain right under the university sign CEU still uses buildings in Budapest just steps away - but it reminds one of the loss of acad. freedom and what CEU represented

Today's small find: Newspaper coverage of the 2011 Hungarian constitution coming into force on the 1st of January 2012 with a picture of workers taking off a 'Hungarian Republic' sign to replace it with 'Hungary'. From what we know today, the coverage feels even more daunting than it did back then.
