The Little Lime Punch hydrangea I planted last year is starting to turn 👀 Eventually this should look like an upside down snow cone with a gradient of Hawaiian punch red. A bit early for it, I don't think this is supposed to happen until closer to September […] [Original post on deletethis.lol]

I accidentally snapped off a hydrangea stem last year and felt bad about it, so I shoved it in the ground to see what would happen. Here's my broken branch 1 year later, giving me a single cute lil bloom! I actually don't often get pink coloring from my hydrangeas so I'm delighted

A very small macrophylla hydrangea. The single stem I'd shoved in the ground is now leaning over and aburst with bright pink blooms, while numerous new stems are shooting up from the side that will give me more blooms next year.

✅ Shade cloth out and ready as we're gonna be for this 114F heat index nonsense Going to have to find some permanent solution eventually. With summers getting hotter earlier every year, it's taking too much intervention to keep them from frying in a spot they used to be very happy in.

So this was cool. A few weeks ago I noticed the ugliest fuckin caterpillar on my deck. Turns out it was fixin to take a nap. I've been watching and was lucky enough to catch them waking up today! The time between image #3 and #4 was 1 hour

A vertical, close-up photograph of a Red-spotted Purple caterpillar resting on a light gray, textured wooden post. The caterpillar is positioned vertically, head-down, and displays a mottled pattern of cream, tan, and dark brown with a glistening texture designed to mimic a bird dropping. Its body is lumpy and irregular, featuring several large rounded humps.

The caterpillar is fully cocooned and bent outward from the deck spindle, looking uglier by the minute. Apparently it is mimicking a bird dropping to avoid being eaten.

The cocoon has gone back down and is showing some black parts emerging from the bottom

A vertical close-up photograph shows a newly emerged Red-spotted Purple butterfly clinging to its empty, brownish chrysalis on a light gray wooden fence post. The butterfly’s wings are mostly closed, revealing a dark iridescent blue-black underside with prominent orange spots along the edges and a row of pale blue crescents. The empty chrysalis above it is shriveled and papery, mimicking a dried leaf or bird dropping.

The plants are pruned heavily for shipment and not as pretty as what you'd find in a nursery, but they are healthy and vibrant green. woowoowoo!! That 80F/27C yesterday + big scary thunderstorms woke this place tf up. From the dull grays of winter to bright green overnight yesterday vs today

A zoomed in shot along the forest border, my utility wagon loaded with brush debris I cleared to the left. To the right, a big fat chonky black bear strolling by after inspecting my work, looking at the camera. The colors are dull, gray, and brown, the grass a little green but mostly dormant

A zoomed out photo from my deck of the area, brush unloaded and piled on a tarp along with other debris from my renovations. The color palette is noticeably brighter, with bright green lawn dappled with waves of neon green moss along a forest border. The trees are just beginning to bud, but the forest floor is awake with green shrubs that were not green at all the day before. Unfortunately it's almost all barberry 🙄
