Scandalous forbidden love on the deer carcass..... (Oiceoptoma inaequale, Oiceoptoma noveboracense)
Oiceoptoma inaequale mounted on Oiceoptoma noveboracense, presumably attempting to mate.

Very cute compared to the normal canada cackling they might be my favorite Branta. Also I caused a swarm of birders to descend on the crappy lake I walk to from my house. I'm like goose oppenheimer

SURELY the densely packed food above and below dams isn't the issue. Surely the fact that mass movements of anadromous fish can only happen at a snail's pace isn't an issue. we put in a fish ladder look! why are the stocks not recovered yet!

Theres scimitar horned oryx basically living wild around the southwest border. Like the ones that were extinct in the wild for a hot minute. Also theres one WMA with established warthogs in addition to peccaries and feral pigs I really wonder how that works out competition wise

Yeah god I imagine any kind of pivot to soy down in south/southeast brazil is going to be Really Quite Bad. High density grazing has its own giant hotbed of issues but like god at least even degraded pasture is usually habitat of some kind

apparently a lot of hab fragmentation issues in the neotropics have been the result of dominant ag production switching from cacao/coffee (long lived understory trees, one native, things can Live or Move Through There) to banana/pineapple. Those pineapple fields especially are kind of deeply evil

Yea migratory flyways have made for some very silly plant ranges, Fragaria chiloensis is another good one cause it ranges from AK to California and then pops back up in bits of highlands in colombia and in patagonia and chile lmao

also the cloud forest ones are bird dispersal related, those same cloud forests have partridgeberry too for similar reasons. It gets really silly once you get to the super upland regions even further south the paramo in costa rica is just full of normal eastern forest plant genera

they spread and seed pretty prolifically too and deal well with foot traffic and mowing for the like 70% of the year they spend as a basal rosette so probably will be there to stay regardless now

i think the 3 type limit and caves being designed around that is what really kinda kills it it feels less like preparing and managing for what might happen and more like taking the keys the game tells you to
