@orisshenyan.bsky.social and me are happy to share our most recent preprint - we find that prior knowledge protects high-level perception from low-level visual deficits common in healthy ageing. @tessamdekker.bsky.social @mlisi.bsky.social www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
A diagram showing that easily encoded context cues can be stored in memory and modulate the encoding of hard-to-recognise images.

Single-cell consequences of X-linked meiotic drive in stalk-eyed flies
Author summary Meiotic drivers, a class of selfish gene, are frequently located on sex chromosomes and have dramatic impacts on gamete development. However, our understanding of their molecular conseq...

Excited to share our new preprint... ...𝑖𝑡'𝑠 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒! ⏳ We find temporal confounds in fMRI that emulate neural patterns of perceptual learning. These can be hard to spot with conventional RSA, but may influence our understanding of how prior knowledge shapes perception. tinyurl.com/4bwy6nre

Thrilled to see this monumental work in @thelancet.bsky.social! A single subretinal injection led to staggering improvements in nearly blind children, while behavioural and EEG data from our lab reveal a dramatic boost in function and cortex activity. A major leap for vision restoration! t.ly/fvdQy

Gene therapy in children with AIPL1-associated severe retinal dystrophy: an open-label, first-in-human interventional study
Our findings indicate that young children with AIPL1-related retinal dystrophy benefited substantially from subretinal administration of rAAV8.hRKp.AIPL1, with improved visual acuity and functional vi...
