I’m taking 10 days off work for first time since I returned from paternity 9 months ago. Drove down to my parents in SC south of Myrtle Beach. Today I played a round of golf with my Dad. Tonight, we’re taking the kids to a Halloween festival. Life is good!

I’m not surprised by companies wanting to pivot to AI. I’m always surprised when they do it under their older completely unrelated brand. I assume the next steps are to eventually shut down the reader and come up with a new name, but wild nonetheless.

This past week I’ve been working night and weekends to help support a project at work after the kids have gone to bed. And I gotta say, while I couldn’t do this all the time, I don’t hate occasionally working extra when I know my effort is going towards making things better.

Not even kidding about New Jersey being my favorite genre of music. Add Eastern PA into the mix and so much of the music I listen to happens to be from this area: Bruce Springsteen, Gaslight Anthem, Titus Andronicus, Dave Hause, Menzingers, Bouncing Souls, etc

Most similar to New Jersey and closest city being Philadelphia? They might be on to something…

A screenshot of a dialect map of the United States. The areas are stronger red in the northeast and in particular New Jersey and Pennsylvania indicating a dialect similar to mine. While the rest of the county is blue indicating a dialect least similar to mine. A description says I talk like someone from New Jersey and my most similar city is Philadelphia, PA.

Yup! That said I’m not much of a gamer. I’ve considered building a gaming pc (capable of other things as well), but with the lack of frequency in how much I game AND current memory prices, I might be waiting for quite some time

It’s been far too long, but pizza night tonight was an incredible success! Started with a summer pie with a roasted garlic cream sauce, bacon, jalapeños, and corn. Finished with a classic - homemade red sauce, pepperoni, basil, and hot honey. All with a simple yet delicious homemade dough!

This is annoying to me because Reacher is someone that pays attention to details. In the same scene he described everyone else that was on the subway with him in detail. It seems unlikely he would get this detail wrong.

For non Philly people, Uptown is on 16th and JFK in a corporate section of center city. Frankford is a completely different vibe starting in Fishtown and extending through north Philly.

In the opening scene, he’s seen leaving Uptown beer garden drinking a beer. First, I don’t know anyone over the age of 25 that frequents that place. But the annoying part came when he was being interrogated and mentioned he was at Uptown on Frankford.

I find Reacher to be a stupid fun show. But this season (or at least the first episode of it), is filmed partially in Philadelphia. I can forgive the cliches (you know they’re coming) and the non-Philadelphia locations (due to production), but one part irked the Philly in me…
