George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 31mMPPs and Advocacy groups...who is your audience? Who are you trying to influence? Are they on here at all? 000
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 35mThere are effectively no MPPs from Ontario Cabinet on here...so your advocacy is probably not even falling on ears, let alone deaf ones... 000
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 44mSome of the Toronto Advocacy groups that have left X...wonder if it's working for them? 000
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 1hIt's funny that there are really only 2 active councillors on here... #topoli 100
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 4hIt doesn’t matter if there are no bike services out there. Huge lack of bike share docks in the area is a massive gap that should have been part of the implementation… People in the neighborhoods need to be able to get to Bloor. 130
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 7hIt's disappointing to see that the BikeShare coverage around the Etobicoke lanes really wasn't expanded when the bike lanes went in...the local community hasn't been able to benefit...there should be docks all the way through these communities, which would have significantly increased ridership 020
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 06/10/2026It’s time for @CycleToronto to come up with a different policy on e-bikes. Specifically instead of trying to get mandatory battery standards, they need to be advocating for laws discriminating against batteries that are already certified and meeting standards. 100
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 21/08/2026Finally it also is discreditable conduct - a duty to treat members of the public appropriately (driving while on a video call threatens their health and safety). 120
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 21/08/2026It's also a misuse of council services (specifically the remote meeting service) as they are clearly using it for other purposes (driving). 110
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 21/08/2026Specifically this is a breach of decorum (no different than if a councillor was smoking inside the council chambers, threatening someone, or carrying a gun onto the floor). 130
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 21/08/2026Looks like The Integrity Commissioner is clearing out his Inbox before the election gets into swing... My complaint for Clr Peruzza/Chernos Lin driving/breaking the Highway Traffic Act during a council meeting has been dismissed. Hopefully the next council will take this more seriously. #topoli 120
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 20/08/2026The Toronto Integrity Commissioner responded to my inquiry about Clr Peruzza and Mayor Chow appearing to be driving during a council meeting. Breaches of the Highway Traffic Act are not integrity violations. This needs to change during the next session of council…. 101
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 19/05/2026Why can’t Toronto just run some cables to these guys so we can turn off the generators?? I thought we’d fix this before fifa. There is power within 10 feet of all of these guys. 010
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 11/05/2026New for 2026 - the Toronto Parks - city staff training module for vehicles in parks…this will be helpful to bookmark if you have any discussions with city staff this summer. They should all have this training now… 210
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 07/04/2026Arguably it will be a great way to get to concerts in the Portlands and avoid the traffic…also Cherry beach and the new park will be significant drivers of traffic… 140
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 27/03/2026It's sad that nobody is really catching the vision for Doug Ford's island airport...really could be a game changer for the city of Toronto... 130
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 13/03/2026Vancouver Skytrain is wild. Boards, skis and paddles all within the same trip…probably a few bikes as well… 040
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 13/03/2026It’s totally pointless without visible confirmation that it’s all working as intended…it could be working today, and disabled tomorrow and nobody would ever know…the best advocacy is going to be for visible and easily understood signals that 1) vehicle is recognized 2) system is responding 110
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 27/02/2026Let’s build the Ontario line to Island Gondola. Would complement the LRT and bus routes with better GO and Subway access. Also provide a great tourism draw and amazing views. 010
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 27/02/2026I’ve been shouting it for years. Just leave shovels in places. People will do It for free. You don’t need to pay them. The cost of a shovel is 10-20$. Brand it, put it out at bus stops before the storm. Collect it after. 8000 bus stops < 200k$ storm if you lose all shovels. 000
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 01/02/2026I wonder if there are locations in Toronto where this could be useful. Allows for keeping an extra car lane in places where there are short blocks. Might be useful under bridges along the waterfront (Jarvis, Parliament etc). 040
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 01/02/2026Transit Priority in Albuquerque is next level. Interlocked - single bidirectional lane priority - with bars. Two lanes reduce to one, and the signals prevent head on collisions. Came across this randomly driving around New Mexico. 361
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 29/01/20262) countdown timers, these should basically be at every endpoint and nearside stop, and basically are another public accountability/ease of debugging situation for closing doors and getting a move on 120
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 29/01/2026There are basically three things we need to implement 1) some way of indicating that a) transit priority is installed at an intersection b) it is working or not c) the vehicle has been detected and priority has been triggered (a circular target is used in Bergen) - makes the system transparent 110
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 28/01/2026Via hot tub is how commutes will be done in the future… 010
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 23/01/2026Sometimes the simplest solution is the simplest solution. Just drop 10$ branded shovels off at stops and riders will do the work for you. Courtesy shovels are low cost - 2500 stops = 25k$, even with 50% loss per year that’s only 40k$…drivers drop them in the morning before a storm, collect at end 010
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 11/01/2026Someone should get all the employee card tap info for ttc board members. Would be curious to see their usage. 001
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 29/12/2025Toronto, sometimes the cheapest solution is the best solution...let's just drop off some shovels at all the bus stops before storms and pick them up after... 142
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 08/12/2025Alright Toronto Urbanists, along with Shawn’s annual tree thread I’m challenging you all to post your best gingerbread multiplexes and gingerbread corner stores…maybe even gingerbread laneway housing… 030
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 29/11/2025Actually, in Europe if you get hit by a train, your dependents do get paid…it’s the same legislation that says you should get a refund for a late train europa.eu/youreurope/c... 020
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 19/11/2025Looks like they sped it up. No need to offer to buy, they can just expropriate…and no need to have public consultations or meetings… 100
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 25/10/2025It would be really good if plannings items coming to council would indicate the impact changes are expected to have on carbon output…ie this new park is gonna reduce by (high/medium/low) amount…this new highway zoning is expected to create a few mega tons of co2 over its 50 year life…like this: 000
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 25/10/2025Not sure if you have seen this image from Ashok Elluswamy (head of Tesla AI)…but I suspect they already can do this…as of the recent version they use a LLM to figure out what to do if it gets stuck… 100
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 24/10/2025Good news everyone, #topoli seems to have taken our advice and massively updated the parks bylaws…new signage is rolling out today… 120
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 20/10/2025European patios really are next level to the stuff we get in Toronto…this one has a sliding door… #cafeto #topoli 000
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 16/10/2025Here is an example of giving cars better priority by giving them their own lane…in a lot of places the right lane might just be for bikes (hello toronto), pushing all the cars into the middle lane…and essentially gumming up the streetcar (not in this specific location, but you get the idea)… 210
George Bell @george.borkbork.ca · 14/10/2025They took the scaffolding down from the Parthenon…first time in 20 years apparently… 020
