I finished another sweater. It’s from the cashmere I dyed with Phaeolus hispidoides (FKA P. schweinitzii)

I’ve just finished this sweater coat with built in neck scarf. Color is much more like the close up photo.

Really enjoyed appearing at San Jose State University this past week with wonderful people (and Pulitzer-winning cartoonists) Ann Telnaes and Mark Fiore, and celebrating Ann's win of the Hearst Award. Congrats, Ann, and thank you, SJSU! @anntelnaes.bsky.social @markfiore.bsky.social

Are there mycologists or publishers out there who need a Mycological illustration artist? This is the only place I’d even ask this question. 😁 Putting it out in the world that I’d love to take on a detailed project & illustrate a fungi book! Willing to build a portfolio if this is a possibility ⬇️

All of this yarn was dyed with one species of mushroom, Phaeolus schweinitzii, commonly known as the dyers polypore. What a variety of color from one mushroom

Find a flower with 4 free petals arranged in a cross shape & you’ve most probably found a member of the Brassicaceae! It’s a huge family & the challenge this week for #Wildflowerhour is to find a wild or naturalised member of the #CabbageFamily in flower. Share your finds this Sunday 8-9pm!

I’m finishing up a cashmere sweater. It’s my own design. I had to make up my own design because I have never learned to follow written patterns. I can figure out shapes just fine but I learned to knit backwards to every knitter. My mom taught me long ago

I got this absolutely gorgeous color from Phaeolus schweinitzii, the dyers polypore. Normally I use this mushroom for gold , yellow and green but I tried a new mordant, titanium oxalate and got this orange/red.
