Heard a Sigur Ros song which sounded like they were doing comedy Chinese accents. Probably doing the Benny Hill thing with the eyes.

All I remember from indie discos were The Passenger, Love Cats 🤮, Jump Around 🤮 and being bored to high heaven. Probably went to about five of them from the early 80s to the early 90s and each time left feeling depressed and too sober.

Long before I was 18 and ever since I haven't been able to choose one favourite as there have been too many to choose from. When I was 4 I would've probably said The Beatles.

I wouldn't recommend Schmoedipus on iPlayer. Tim Curry's acting is like if Prince actually did play a horny Joker in the Batman film. That's in addition to the blatant misogyny of the script.

Only a privileged liberal could come out with this kind of horseshit.
To quote Dr Nick Walker:

"On a strictly neurobiological level, there's not actually such a thing as a 'normal brain' or a 'neurotypical brain,' any more than there's such a thing as a 'male brain,' a 'heterosexual brain,' or an 'American brain.' Neurotypical people aren't people who all share one distinct type of human brain, they're people whose compliance with prevailing cultural standards of neuronormative performance gains them the privileges that come with being considered 'normal' within the dominant culture. Neurotypicality is more a social phenomenon than a biological one."

Two days, two white Kent men moaning angrily at workers. Yesterday, Gen-Xer adamant that his and his partner's few quid tickets gave them the right to travel on a high speed train. Today, boomer adamant that he should be able to get the COVID jab for free along with the flu jab.

Burnham's proposal is to fix the state pension at 30% of the median wage. So that people in their mid-20s now will not be receiving 40 to 45% of the median wage in 2070, which would have happened if the triple lock had stayed for another 44 years. Long game sensible politics.

Some thoughts on celebrities with aphantasia, reality television, and me (of course).
Still Waiting

It's been two and a half years now since I discovered that people can not only literally visualise, but also might not have a completely silent mind, let alone all the other internal senses that I lack. And that they can re-experience or mentally replay personal past events from a first-person perspective!

Yet as far as the general public's perception of people with aphantasia goes, very little has changed since then. It's still the same few celebrities they might possibly have heard about — a couple of novelists writing in an industry that creates vivid theatres in fortunate readers' minds, the film animators, the magician. None of whom have mentioned they lack anything other than a mind's eye, as far as I know.

Then there's the comedian with aphantasia, Richard Herring, who last week mentioned it on a British celebrity pottery competition show. He said that instead of using visualisation to design the pieces he created for the show, he used maths!

This statement elicited the ubiquitous reality-show verbal ejaculation "Wow!" from the show's presenter and experts. Their minds were blown, as was mine. He can think about a physical object — its shape, its structure, its measurements — without picturing it! I can't hold a physical object in mind at all!

So my spatial gifts are not up to scratch either.

Which leaves me still waiting for that reality-show celebrity to go on a talk show and say, "It makes me so sad that I can't hear my gorgeous pussycat's lovely voice, feel his soft huggable fur, and smell his deliciously fishy breath in my mind when I'm away from him."

The interviewer will say how desperately heartbreaking that is, and I will go...

"Wow!"

"It was great that Richard Herring mentioned his aphantasia on that pottery show. Maybe people will start to believe we've always had it and it's not due to trauma?" "And he was the first celebrity to mention that a lot of us don't just lack a mind's eye, indeed millions of us lack all the senses?"

If I was a young child and my dad decided to watch some Michael Rosen poetry videos with me because of his politics I'd think two things - 1. Why is he saying I should be making a picture in my head? I can't make pictures in my head. 2. Dad, this old man is scary.
