Genevieve Metcalfe @genevievem.bsky.social · 23/11/2024Yes, exactly this. I’ve seen first hand how those who are not in promoted posts by a certain (early!) stage in their career, are assumed to be lacking somehow, and are consequently looked down upon by leaders who are often much less experienced or skilled. 110
Genevieve Metcalfe @genevievem.bsky.social · 21/11/2024Teaching is one of the few professions where it can feel like experience counts for nothing, when that couldn’t be further from the truth. Why is that? 030

Genevieve Metcalfe @genevievem.bsky.social · 21/11/2024Great classroom teachers are absolute gold dust. They are the lifeblood of schools. Why aren’t they celebrated as such? What is the incentive for great teachers to stay in the classroom? As we struggle to recruit, I really can’t understand why good teachers aren’t valued as the gems they are. 1244

Genevieve Metcalfe @genevievem.bsky.social · 18/11/2024It doesn’t work, in my experience. Around half the class will take part, which is lovely, but the rest will sit with an unopened book in front of them staring out of the window/doodling/pulling faces at each other. Genevieve Metcalfe @genevievem.bsky.social · 10/11/2024Yes, there’s much to be said for doing the thinking yourself. The school I trained in didn’t even have projectors, and I had to plan and teach everything from scratch, using paper resources and a board pen. I do wonder what has been lost - the planning, the thinking, the nitty gritty of it all. 010
