I’m so pleased that Hummie feels my balcony is a safe refuge for her, as the rain has been nonstop for two days. Pic on the right is this morning. The left is now, as she sleeps on the vine. After 3 clutches this summer, I think she might have decided this is her final stop. I’m good with that. ❤️

So, this is my “Secret Garden” sanctuary balcony. It’s completely out of control this year. I usually have taken it down by now, but my little Hummie hasn’t headed south yet. I’ve noticed that she’s been moving slower.Today, she’s been resting in my sanctuary for hours. Sleep well, little one. ❤️

Walked my favorite trail today for the first time since spring. A praying mantis , a sunflower, and animal prints. Delightful!

Had a very busy day today, rewarded by seeing a toad on the property. Over 25 years of living here, I’ve never seen a toad on our property. Eastern American toad? Fowler’s? Nearest water is through fences, houses, and across a busy street. Adventurous little bugger!

Lucy was my ❤️cat. I rescued her when she was a kitten, dumped at my store. She loved hanging out on the balcony with me and was stunningly beautiful.

When I say Rosie is the BEST kitty, I mean it. This lady looked like this before I started vacuuming until I finished. She never flinched. I even bumped her chair! Afterwards, she got up, went to her bowl, took her medicine like a champ, ate, then waited for me to sit down, and curled up on my lap.🥰

A month from now, I will have completely lost control of my balcony. The morning glories will frame the door and explode with flowers. The salvias will be 3’ tall, providing me with my secret garden, within which I read, and listen to the world around me. #garden #nature #balconygarden

This Tutu Morning Glory bloomed early from a seed sown by Tutus I planted in my pots last year. It’s a prolific bloomer, blooms all summer long, and every flower looks different. I highly recommend it!
