Simon, like most cisgender men (he assumes), spends his days dreaming about magically transforming into a woman. When a demon shows up at the bar he works at and starts calling him a girl, she seems to be handing him everything he could ever want. #booksky #writesky #horror #trans #lgbt

"How do you transform me into a girl?"
She laughs. Her smile is generous and caring. Her head is on the pillow next to him. The moon casts soft gray light on both of their naked bodies through the window across from them. "First, I want to hear you say it."
Instantly, he does. "I want you to transform me
into a girl."
"Not that, sweet Girl. Do not involve me. Say it." Say what? This is what I want, so what's wrong with what I'm asking for? The magical transformation. Getting to be someone Else, someone New, someone Real? Not Nothing. Not Simon. A girl. A woman. She has the key and I'm the lock and I don't know how I get Her to turn it and open me.
"What do you want, Girl?"
He tries to breathe in to reply, but it hitches in his throat, making him cough, roughly. The cough becomes a wail and soon he's convulsing, sobbing, and dribbling spit.
And, despite how disgusting he is, She holds him, She's there for him, and as She runs her palm tenderly along his back, his fit begins to fade.
Has anyone ever held him this gingerly before?
Lisa's embrace earlier was motherly, but in Her arms, he's porcelain, and She'd never let him chip.

Say it.
It's right there.
Say it.
She's right here.
She wants to give you this.
Say it.
Simon.
Simon, you FUCKING COWARD.
Simon.
SIMON.
SAY IT.
PLEASE.
PLEASE SIMON.
I NEED YOU TO SAY THIS.
Simon.
Simon!
SIMON, if you don't say this right now I will never
forgive you.
Simon finally says it.
"I want to be a woman."
She smiles, and kisses his forehead.
"How do I become a woman?"
"You already are a woman, Girl."
"No. Uh. What? No. I mean. How do I transform?
What do we do?"
"Oh." Her lips turn up in a half smile, and She beams, "Well, certainly you already know how we are going to do that to you."

I think, if you give my novel Aftertaste a try, you might like it as much as any of the 27 out of 27 reviewers on Goodreads who have rated it 5 stars, like @annlee14.bsky.social #booksky #writesky #trans #horror #lgbt

"Aftertaste" is a transformative
achievement and takes it place among the pinnacle of the growing body of trans literature. Another impactful book I read this year is "Bad Habit" by Alana S. Portero, and I will be keeping "Aftertaste" in a place of honor next to it as a treasured literary memory. Remember, friends, you have to live. "Aftertaste" will help. It's a beautiful read that reminds us that we are beautiful too.

EVEN CIS HET MEN LIKE IT A LOT (Seriously, @jtvoiceover.com, this review warms my fucking heart) #booksky #writesky #trans

Emoria has crafted a story in her debut novel unlike any other I have read. The author invites us to where it's dark, scary, and vulgar, only to find life-affirming truth and beauty that speaks to a trans experience anyone should empathize with. It is unabashedly queer and harnesses the anxieties and even the joys of the trans experience to tell a dizzying and sometimes seductive horror story. While it is a story that is most definitely directed to a trans audience it also cuts to the heart of the human need of realizing one's true self, potential, and community.
The book also makes full use of the word as a visual medium with all manners of inventive typography and formatting, further driving home moments that hit like a truck.
The author's inclusion of a content warning list by chapter (of which there are many potentially triggering things) and a link to a "Cis Guide To Aftertaste" are also nice pieces of companion material for those that need it.
It is a book that dares to be read. It is a book that feels dangerous and full of psychic damage, but somehow still fun and retains a gentleness that keeps you safe. To those with an open mind and heart (who also aren't squeamish), to those who ever felt lost in life or figuring themselves out, I can't recommend this book enough.
I also want to clarify that I read this book as a cisgender hetero male. I understand this book has been quite effective for those who are themselves trans or just discovering that part of them, which I believe is amazing and makes this book even necessary. While can't say my experience even compares to those whose foundations were shaken, I'd like to highlight that you don't need to be queer to listen/support/enjoy or allow yourself to be affected by queer media as I found myself welling up with tears multiple times throughout the story. At a time when the media landscape is being threatened by homogenization, it is now more important to seek out and celebrate works like Aftertaste.

ahhhh Girl Beneath the Ice has crossed 30,000 words, that's about 1/3 of the way to being a book! Please, please, PLEASE, if you've liked my writing in the past, give this one a read. I know it's a hard subject matter. I promise I'm going somewhere warm: www.scribblehub.com/series/25100...

He says nothing, and sits in the ice cave with bare feet and hands and a girl who is clearly somehow just him but a little older inches away from himself.
“I took a long, long time to figure this out,” she says, gesturing at herself, “If… look, August, I’m still trying to figure this out, truthfully. And I remember how confusing being you felt. So, I’m not expecting you to say it, or totally understand. I mean, fuck, do you even know the word?”
A transvestite.
Me.
She’s me, but a transvestite freak.
Yes, I know the fucking word.
“It’s January, 2004 for you, right?”
He numbly nods.
“Well, it’s July, 2024 for me.”
“Okay,” he manages to croak out, baffled by the science-fiction year.
“August, would you like me to say it?” she asks, and it’s quiet and hopeful and filled completely with the need for him to say yes.
“Fine,” he breathes.
“My name is Autumn Hagemann, and I’m you.”
I knew I was a fucking faggot.
“Or, more accurately, you’ll grow up and become me.”
I’m a god damn tranny to be trotted out as a disappointment on Maury.
“I figured out I’m trans-nonbinary pretty early into the pandemic…”
Ace Ventura is going to turn me around and everyone who ever kissed me on the police force is going to throw up.

My newest super power is a … I won’t say bottomless but I will say it is a well of love, kindness, and empathy for my friends that I have yet to find the bottom of. Estrogen is a hell of a drug. That well has been there my whole life but transitioning has made it much easier to access.

130

Nora @nora.thestrongs.info · 07/10/2026

I know this is shitpost but actually there’s already genetic code that would convert the testes into estrogen factories but our current DNA tech isn’t precise enough to activate it, so if you could put that trillion dollards towards that research you would make a lot of people very happy!

131

Nora @nora.thestrongs.info · 07/10/2026

Chapters 1-12: “maybe the horror is meta? like transition from the dying shell’s perspective?” Chapters 13-: “Oh, no, there it is.” There was one chapter where my reaction was just various intonations of “oh, fuck” like that one episode of The Wire. Anyways, buy my friend’s book!
