Making this documentary changed how we think. Our exploration of assistive technology became a story about connection, embodiment and possibility. Introducing "Speaking in This Moment." #Documentary #AssistiveTechnology #HumanPotential

Can technology be an extension of our bodies? Using my wheelchair feels so intuitive that I barely think about it. Yet I also love exploring what I can do without it. Independence isn't about using more technology. It's about having choices. #AssistiveTechnology #Disability #HumanAugmentation

Filming day @rigb.org AI and assistive technology can give disabled people greater independence, but communication is more than transmitting words. It’s timing, humour, emotion and spontaneity. What makes you feel genuinely heard in a conversation? #AssistiveTechnology #AI #Disability

Only in London could you find yourself driving sheep through the City. 🐑 The tradition dates back to medieval times. As a Freeman through the Worshipful Company of Educators, I got to take part. History, eccentricity and sheep. Very London. #London #CityOfLondon #SheepDrive

The AI-in-education debate needs to go beyond copyright. The bigger question is how we teach students to use AI to enhance creativity rather than outsource it. AI is moving faster than education policy. So what should change first? #AI #Education #CreativeAI #EdTech

Okay, so I couldn’t get into the event I was planning to attend because of a lack of wheelchair access. Not ideal. But sometimes you just have to make the best of the situation, find another route, and enjoy the view. #Accessibility #London #Disability #Perspective #résilience

Excited to share that my Royal Institution talk, "Discoveries Without Understanding", is now available on YouTube! Can AI help make scientific discoveries without truly understanding what it has found? And if so, what does that mean for the future of science?
Wide view of the Royal Institution lecture theatre during a live talk. Claire Malone sits in a powered wheelchair at the centre of the circular wooden stage, wearing a light grey dress and black sleeveless vest. A large projection screen above displays diagrams of the scientific process, while audience members watch from tiered seating around the room. Blue stage lighting illuminates the backdrop bearing the Royal Institution logo.

When it comes to AI, Britain is falling behind America and China. We produce world-class tech talent. That isn’t the issue. The issue is what happens next. Too often, promising UK firms are acquired early, founders exit, and the value creation shifts overseas.

We hear the term AI agents everywhere these days, but what does it actually mean? AI agents will optimise your workflow by creating personalised results that understand your work, your context, and your voice. Hence, freeing up your time for the work that really counts.

Why is AI suddenly so powerful? Because of one breakthrough: transformers. Instead of reading a sentence word by word, transformers use attention, which lets them see the whole sentence at once — and understand how every word connects.

⚙️ We use AI daily — but how many really understand what’s happening under the hood? AI doesn’t think. It predicts — one word at a time. And knowing how that works changes everything. Curiosity is the real literacy. ➡️ AI with Insight — launching Friday. #AIWithInsight #AI #AILiteracy #EthicalAI
A slide explaining how AI learns, titled:
"AI: A Very Forgetful Student – One Who Learns Not Through Explanation But By Seeing Many Examples."

The visual depicts a five-step process:

Collection – illustrated with a cluster of yellow dots.

Cleaning & Preparation – dots are organised and some are faded, implying filtering.

Training Phase – represented by a large yellow circle with arrows, indicating internal processing.

Fine-tuning & Testing – shown as a green circle.

Deployment – ending with the OpenAI ChatGPT logo.

Each stage is connected by arrows, suggesting a left-to-right progression. The tone is educational and metaphorical, describing AI as a student who learns from patterns, not instructions.

🎧 Writers, do you do this too? When I’m working on fiction, I often use music to get into the mindset—and even the voice—of my characters. A melody, rhythm, or lyric can help me tune into their tone in a way nothing else can. Curious to know, do any other writers out there use music like this?
