This is what a lot of people don't understand about pain meds. There is a physiological cost to NOT treating pain. Treating your pain can make it possible to do other interventions that can help reduce your pain in the long run. A similar argument can be made for psych meds and psychotherapy.

My partner went to the US for a few weeks and 1) I’m not used to how quiet the flat is without him anymore, at all, and 2) as usual when he’s gone the cat is suddenly an extra clingy cat, like she’s trying to impress onto me that I’m simply not allowed to leave her as well.
