The idea, made by some Glendale City Council candidates, that Glendale would buy expensive permits and purchase expensive emission reduction credits (from cities or businesses that are not using the credits they have) so that we can pollute our OWN neighborhoods (especially the Rancho, Pelanconi and adjacent neighborhoods), to sell dirty energy into a market that we don’t currently have access to and that is not interested in buying it at the times we’d want to sell it, is not only immoral, it is likely a money-losing scenario.

Plug-in “balcony” solar is one of the simplest ways to access solar power today. These are small, modular systems—typically under 1200 watts—that plug directly into a standard outlet and immediately begin offsetting your home’s electricity use. Instead of a large rooftop installation, these systems can be placed on a balcony, patio, backyard, or along a fence. They work like an appliance in reverse, feeding power into your home and reducing what you pull from the grid.

Many thanks to all of the GEC members that came out to pick up litter around Downtown Glendale on Saturday, June 28, 2025! 19 volunteers spent three hours collecting several bags of trash in the area around Glendale City Hall. The team collected many cigarette butts, which are a significant form of litter that often end up in storm drains and ultimately out into our water ways.
