I need a significantly better mic setup for that lol.

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 06/09/2026

They really did turn out nice.

120

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 04/09/2026

No, so like I’m good at it. It’s just such a fight to do the final two seams sewing both haves of the zipper in place.

110

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 04/09/2026

Yup, that was just a pain in the tail as I expected. I really got to not do more of these because it just sucks.

140

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 03/09/2026

Getting somewhere. Hardest part is attaching the zipper so that’s gonna wait till after food.

060

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 02/09/2026

I am learning to play them! I’m actually finding out that the mix of “key box” and stringed instruments works well with how my brain processes music.

110

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 02/09/2026

No see this is just a side effect of building myself another niche folk instrument and needing a case for it. Second order effect suffering.

020

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 02/09/2026

Apparently I just want to cause myself suffering. (I’m doing it again)

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 26/08/2026

It’s a Nyckelharpa, basically a keyed fiddle with sympathetic strings.

010

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 26/08/2026

I might not suck at this.

6201

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 25/08/2026

Was waiting on better tuners, that was the correct choice.

060

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 25/08/2026

That would have been useful for troubleshooting two years ago (but happy it’s coming soon)

030

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 25/08/2026

I’m glad I walked with three other people they share my vibe of problem solving cause ho-boy what and ending.

010

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 25/08/2026

Getting into the fiddily bits again with the key box. Waiting on a new set of main string tuners before I can start tensioning things.

070

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 22/08/2026

Every clamp? Yes? Yes.

0130

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 22/08/2026

Yeah I kinda fell down the rabbit hole of stringed instruments played with keys.

010

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 21/08/2026

They both have it. I mean I made them I should at least sign it.

010

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 21/08/2026

No this is a Nyckelharpa. I already build myself a Hurdy Gurdy because yes; finding one is near impossible unless you build it yourself.

130

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 21/08/2026

Making it match the Gurdy in vibe because why not.

2140

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 20/08/2026

We continue to do the clamp. This one is substantially less complicated.

There's GOTTA be a joke in here about "But can you store a DOOM .wad in it?" But I think @gato.gay already did that research for me.

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 18/08/2026

100 degrees out? Perfect time to stain wood. Nearly heatstroke myself? Also yes.

191

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 18/08/2026

I’d recommend one that doesn’t involve bending a top cover if you’ve never done much woodworking. It is a very fun project and I will likely build more in the future myself just for funsies. I wanna try and make an electric Gurdy for shits and gigz.

110

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 18/08/2026

Why not. Time for more keyd stringed instruments.

110

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 17/08/2026

Not quite but similar

000

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 16/08/2026

I need a much better microphone to record it as it actually does sound fantastic.

000

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 13/08/2026

Before the next large project, time to replace the tuners with something a little more classical.

130

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 03/08/2026

I’ve seen the discord way done well though. One and done verify key(s) [because it was a collab between two artists] to verify you bought both required parts with a bot, download the files and then you can fuck off of wanted. Though that is now moot as Gumroads has native collab sales.

100

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 01/08/2026

See now that I didn’t actually know. Fair enough lol.

010

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 31/07/2026

Yes it’s that time again for more fun things you can do with math.

34714

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 27/07/2026

Someone remind me never to make a bag that complicated again, thanks.

190

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 26/07/2026

Swapped tubing pegs for nicer ones and am making a gig bag for the Gurdy… which is making me remember how much I hate doing 4 side flush pockets on panel bags.

081

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 25/07/2026

Fair. Offering? I always need more sound files.

Davinci resolve glitch transition is so funny cause i see it everywhere, its become the wilhelm scream of video editors.

1111

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 25/07/2026

This is why I a) don’t use that and b) use the other takes from the Wilhelm track to make the “uncanny Wilhelm”.

I try my best to cross post

110

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 16/07/2026

Every (American) fursuit maker.

010

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 16/07/2026

Key box cover installed. Still work to be done on it and the tuning of all the tangents. I need a better contact mic for my tuner

2120

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 12/07/2026

I have got to get it “happy” tune wise before I even attempt to start playing, however yes that is the plan at some point.
