The solution to when there just isn't a good body of water to land in anywhere's close. Rope.

070 7

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 11/10/2026

Polar exploration via airship hits different... and no idea where I'm landing cause what open water.

060 6

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 10/10/2026

Doing the MC again. Vagabond in an airship via the Create Aeronautics. Finally my floating and flying boat.

2100 10

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 04/09/2026

Yup, that was just a pain in the tail as I expected. I really got to not do more of these because it just sucks.

140 4

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 03/09/2026

Getting somewhere. Hardest part is attaching the zipper so that’s gonna wait till after food.

060 6

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 02/09/2026

Apparently I just want to cause myself suffering. (I’m doing it again)

1100 10

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 26/08/2026

I might not suck at this.

6201 20

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 25/08/2026

Was waiting on better tuners, that was the correct choice.

060 6

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 25/08/2026

Getting into the fiddily bits again with the key box. Waiting on a new set of main string tuners before I can start tensioning things.

070 7

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 22/08/2026

Every clamp? Yes? Yes.

0130 13

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 21/08/2026

No this is a Nyckelharpa. I already build myself a Hurdy Gurdy because yes; finding one is near impossible unless you build it yourself.

130 3

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 21/08/2026

Making it match the Gurdy in vibe because why not.

2140 14

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 20/08/2026

We continue to do the clamp. This one is substantially less complicated.

260 6

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 18/08/2026

100 degrees out? Perfect time to stain wood. Nearly heatstroke myself? Also yes.

191 9

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 13/08/2026

Before the next large project, time to replace the tuners with something a little more classical.

130 3

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 31/07/2026

Yes it’s that time again for more fun things you can do with math.

34714 47

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 27/07/2026

Someone remind me never to make a bag that complicated again, thanks.

190 9

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 26/07/2026

Swapped tubing pegs for nicer ones and am making a gig bag for the Gurdy… which is making me remember how much I hate doing 4 side flush pockets on panel bags.

081 8

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 16/07/2026

Key box cover installed. Still work to be done on it and the tuning of all the tangents. I need a better contact mic for my tuner

2120 12

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 12/07/2026

Got it to sing its first awkward notes late last night. Realized that it was reverb echoing down the hallway and maybe not tune it at 0130hours. Now, today is tuning time; when I’m not going to wake the neighbors with how actually loud this thing is.

4171 17

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 11/07/2026

Starting to actually look like something.

2111 11

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 10/07/2026

Now begins all the fiddly bits.

2100 10

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 08/07/2026

Improvised varnish drying solutions.

0120 12

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 07/07/2026

Would you like every clamp I own, yes.

0110 11

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 06/07/2026

Because you can just do things. Waiting on stain to cure and then it’s onto making those parts one.

2110 11

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 06/07/2026

Starting to finally look like a thing.

0140 14

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 04/07/2026

Water bending (no not like that. Not like that either…) wood finishes and more clamps as the internal skeleton is taking shape.

1100 10

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 03/07/2026

Would you like, sum CLAMP

3110 11

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 02/07/2026

Now to let all that dry fully.

190 9

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 02/07/2026

Someone called this an “old man hobby”, I call it finally making an instrument I’ve wanted since I was 5 with my own two paws.

1141 14

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 02/07/2026

Continuing on with the “you can just do things”; Hurdy Gurdy time.

A pile of laser cut “flat pack ikea Hurdy Gurdy parts on a table surrounded by an absurd number of clamps of many varieties.

2140 14

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 29/06/2026

You too can just make things because why no one offers an orange canvas zipper close hood is beyond me.

3120 12

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 26/06/2026

It’s the same answer for Skyrim btw.

88719 87

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 21/06/2026

Fixing some of the issues that cropped up on the test sail. A proper center board downhaul with jam cleat, and a tiller clutch to keep the rudder from hard overing under its own weight. Along with another friendly reminder that “boat yard smokes don’t count”.

2110 11

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 17/06/2026

Back with some more “quick maths” about a highly requested subject.

39822 98

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 12/06/2026

On today’s episode of “you have free will you can just do things”; boat.

3171 17

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 10/06/2026

Well after a weekend of having to split “damp” walnut with only a 2.25lb felling axe and a hatchet in order to eat and not be chilly in the morning… I needed a 5lb wedge on a longer handle to “not have to do that again” lol

221 2

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 10/06/2026

Quell those pesky thoughts with this one simple trick!

66511 65

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 09/06/2026

Having a “family of axes” wasn’t on my bucket list however the necessity of firewood during future camping adventures has made me that cat.

1202 20

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 01/06/2026

Your yearly reminder that Pride started as a riot. Happy Pride everyone!

An anthro tabby colored feline standing poolside facing the viewer wearing a vibrantly flamboyant leotard and rainbow mesh crop top with the words in rainbow text loudly proclaiming "be gay do crime" in the background.

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 01/06/2026

Free Gato lore; the car in the background is the same make and model of my first irl car. Was wild to see one in #vrchat

0303 30

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 30/05/2026

Swapped some elbows from pvc to brass and added some hanging basket storage. Soon we hit the water.

170 7

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 30/05/2026

“We play 7’s to relax…”

150 5

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 26/05/2026

Decided I wasn’t too tired to make a new overstrike protector for my axe which I beat the brakes off this weekend. It served me well, so let’s treat it to some good craftsmanship.

270 7

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 25/05/2026

I couldn’t have asked for better friends and random strangers to come together to overcome “firewood provided” in the wet 12-24 inch round log walnut variety so we could be one of a few encampments to have a functional kitchen this weekend. Hats off to everyone breaking their backs and axes.

0100 10

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 20/05/2026

Let's be a little 'more' here.

0130 13

Sunset Gato @gato.gay · 19/05/2026

And other fun things you can do with numbers.
