Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 5hIn a vaguely related matter, isn't it insane that we have a fruit called a grape, but it's a completely different thing from a grapefruit? I realised this a while back when attempting to order the above drink in a place in Spain. 010
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 6hI've read Hex, I loved it! I'm not familiar with the other one so I'll check that out, thank you! 😊 001
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 12hAs a kid I loved Edward Lear's poetry, especially The Pobble Who Has No Toes. I've only just discovered how old his stuff was - he died in 1888! I had no idea! 270
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 12hI saw the film version of The Ritual a few years ago, so would definitely like to check out the book - thank you! 110
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 12hOoh good shout, I've been meaning to try his stuff for a while. Do you have a favourite one to recommend? 110
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 12hYes! I'm a big fan, but sadly it means I've listened to them all. 😁 000
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 12hI'd like to listen to a good horror audiobook on my train journey home tomorrow. I've read a lot of the classics and loads of Stephen King but I'm a bit out of touch with newer stuff. I love a good ghost story or anything a bit creepy and demonic. Anyone have any recommendations? 310

Reposted by Gary PantonBo Thompson @gaudipern.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Today I heard someone use the Human Centipede as a way to explain why large model AI is inevitably heading towards its own self destruction by tainting its future inputs, and honestly? It was a beautiful teaching metaphor. 718366
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 30/09/2026I got off the train and saw everyone still in their summer clothes and immediately knew I'd packed very badly. 010
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 30/09/2026The cat in Hat Cat looks a lot happier than the Scarf Cat I just saw! 😁 110
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 30/09/2026Just saw a guy walking down the stairs to the underground wearing a live cat around his neck like a scarf. 260
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 30/09/2026I've arrived in London and I wasn't prepared for it basically still being summer down here. 2120
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 30/09/2026It really is incredible that that photo was the one someone approved. 020
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 30/09/2026OK so it looks like an atrocity and getting it out of the packaging was a nightmare, but it actually tastes ... OK? I mean, it's obviously not great but it's no worse than a standard McDonald's cheeseburger. It's also hotter than the Sun. 150
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 30/09/2026That is exactly what they've done and it infuriates me because it's such a cop-out. They've also made the signs as tiny as possible so that they're very easy for people to miss. 100
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 30/09/2026OK, I've done it. Pretty excited about this. And "Successfully!" really made me laugh so thanks for that, LNER. 230
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 30/09/2026Bit weird that I can only have it as part of a meal deal if I have it with alcohol. 220
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 30/09/2026I do it fairly often and the public are getting noticeably worse each time. 110
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 30/09/2026Relieved to say there's now a woman with a toddler playing nursery rhyme videos at full volume. Was getting a bit worried that wouldn't happen on this trip. 290
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 30/09/2026On balance I do still prefer it to the rest of the train, but yeah, the public are infuriating. 100
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 30/09/2026How many minutes into my journey on the quiet coach before someone has started talking on their phone? I'll tell you how many. Seven. Seven minutes. 2101

Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 28/09/2026Yeah, same here (other than the original Celebrity Love Island series from yonks ago, which I insist was better, despite never having seen the current format to compare it to). 110
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 28/09/2026I think everyone lives in a bubble to some extent. Some people would be surprised at others not knowing what book is number 1, or film, or who won the World Cup. I find it crazy that there are people who have never watched Traitors. 110
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 27/09/2026Always such a pleasure catching up with these characters. Amazing how fresh this whole franchise still feels. Toy Story 5 (2026) on Disney+. 020

Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 27/09/2026Went to our local for lunch and there was a teenager with what appeared to be his grandparents at the table next to us and they were asking him questions like "are you seeing any girls at the moment?" and he rightly looked like he wanted to very quickly die. 1140
Gary Panton @garypanton.co.uk · 27/09/2026Are free refills the norm in America? I've been a few times but can't really remember noticing that. It's unusual to see it here, but they do free refills in Nando's, which also has the excellent system of everyone going up to the counter and paying for their own meal as soon as they arrive. 110
