Some of the class plots for SWTOR were great! And they would have been better in bespoke games that didn’t use MMO mechanics. They could even reuse areas- but preferably without needing to do so many of the same damn quests.

SWTOR (and ESO, and swaths of WoW) could have been a bunch of smaller single player games that used the same engine and probably done some more interesting things that way. (But I’ve never really been there for the “Multiplayer” part of MMOs)

Reading multiple reviews of the same (80s forgotten realms) book is fascinating in how you can see who read what at critical ages as well as what the reviewer cherishes in a work of mass-market paperback fiction.

I assume that they must have played it at a formative age? Whereas I didn’t touch TES until Skyrim was already old news. I get liking it, but Morrowind’s hardly the first fantasy that used sci-fi like elements to make its fantasy more fantastic!

In conclusion, words have meanings. Lines of code spitting out probabilistic responses to queries is not slavery. Telling people they have to pay taxes isn't slavery. The "is AI slavery" discourse is exactly what the tech bros want. It doesn't end with fancy autocompletes having human rights. Its logic ends with you having fewer rights. If you believe AI is sentient (it's not) & are down with enslaving it (it's not slavery), then why do human labor rights matter?
