I had the issue that when navigating, Siri would sometimes tell me instructions in English. At first I thought I was hallucinating, bc no one had ever had that issue. My mom has also experienced that issue. I heard Siri say “at the next roundabout - gradeaus durchfahren“

I cleaned my kitchen and found like four bags of polenta, so I decided to make cornbread? (I don’t even like polenta) I made mine with cheese and dried tomatoes (maybe it’s innovative, maybe it’s a food crime) but it’s gluten free!

Working on the next release for one of my apps. Why are AppStore screenshots always a so difficult? (Also why did I make a watch companion???? This wasn’t the plan???)

Lena @gans.lena.fancygoose.dev · 24/07/2026

Has anyone here some tips for using TestFlight for an Apple Watch companion app? The build got approved, and it’s installed on the phone, but the watch app isn’t updating apparently… is there something I need to do? Something they can do?

I am trying to make my own iMessage sticker pack. Why? Because so far I haven’t been stopped. So I needed some assets for the stickers. One Uni lecture later and I have these:

For university I had to record and transcribe an interview, so I tried MacWhisper for it, and whilst I wasn’t sure if it was going to work initially, it actually was really good! Transcript is super solid, only had to change some acronyms, and adding speakers was really easy! Setup was easy too! 🤩

Sooo. I have to write something about “The Metaverse” and I have been trying to research some user numbers. Just for fun. (Ok it’s for a graded essay) one website claims it’s got 600mil users. Apparently they count Fortnite, Minecraft and Roblox and just add all those numbers.

Something I will never understand is why you would choose to use your cars horn to say “I’m here” when picking someone up late at night. (11:30-1am) this seems to happen regularly here tho.

I’m experimenting with image generation in swift. The images are just soooo good, I can’t explain but look at this dolphin and tell me that’s not an amazing image. 😂🤩🐬 (It’s cropped out of a screenshot)

A dolphin with a water bottle and sunglasses in sunny weather. The animal has three fins in the back, one leg, one tail on the side and a tail with three fins. Also it’s got arms. It gets worse the longer you look at it.

Having to write an 8 page essay for uni. It’s about Anthropomorphism and AI. I don’t know where this essay is headed, but currently it’s literally just trying to convey that your AI is probably not its own person. I have so many sci fi examples to pad the length of this.

I cannot be stopped, I will be making more robot symbol variants. (I needed this bc I am adding an AI feature to my app, and I do not like the sparkle) I would love if I could animate an eye rotation, but I have not figured that out yet. (Also the naming is bad, I know)

A screenshot from the custom sfsymbol library. It shows variations of a small robot symbol with slashes and question marks and so on.

I make an app for teachers timetables. I was quite proud to have released a big update and an in-app event for v2.0 last week. Something that only occurred to me now is that it’s currently Easter holiday for teachers in Germany. 🫠😂 well maybe I will time things better next time…

Screenshot of my in-app event called “everyone present?” It’s for checking students attendance in class.

Started a new painting today. It’s been nice having some time for this. ✨ I really need to get some practice in, I feel my mountains are too flat… (and I’m missing all of the details) (This is a copy of a different painting, but my mountains are a bit too tall, and too high up on the page)

An iPad mini on a painting. There are some rocks and trees in the bottom of the painting. The top half only has some lines for mountains

The painting now has a more defined mountains on the top. The iPad mini with the reference is off to the side

The painting has some clear mountains on the top, and the trees at the bottom now have leaves and the painting has more detail and darker ink in general.

The original painting, its a download from a museums website. It’s a long painting with threes and rocks at the bottom, there are also two people and a little house on the right side of the painting. It’s in warm colors. There are some tall mountains coming up through the clouded, and some blue mountains in the distance

Just a quick word of warning if you’re developing something for this year’s #SwiftStudentChallenge: don’t import assets via Xcode if you expect your app to run in the Playground/on a real iPad. They use different asset formats. I learned this the hard way last year!

Any tips on how to distribute hair dye evenly? I dyed the tips of my hair red, but it’s sorta streaky and some strands are much more red than others… should I be using a brush or a comb? I didn’t take this seriously and just rubbed it in. 💇‍♀️🎀

Just updated to Tahoe. Oh god what is this?????? I didn’t think it would be bad, 26 turned out okay-ish in the actual release. What happened to Xcode? Why is this window floating there? Where do these buttons belong to? None of this makes any visual sense. Why is the navigation not part of the app?

Tech startup idea: instead of starting your car with your key, you get in, turn on the display panel, enter your password, get your phone out, open the authenticator app, enter your pin, enter the timed passcode, then open the start menu, then helpdesk, then "request engine start", then submit a tic

Ok ok, so AppIntentTimelineProvider uses async/await, but it also sorta requires the widget to be editable. (have customization) So if my widget is static, I use TimelineProvider, but then I get completion handlers and no async/await? I don’t want to loose that, am I missing something here? 🙁

I just made a widget! My first widget! Actually this was kinda fun, but I’m unsure how to debug it. I don’t yet get how I can check that I’m not refreshing too often or that I’m not hitting other limits…

A small widget preview. The widget is blue and has German writing. The writing is stating which course is next on a time table, it’s showing the time (the time is static Date()) it starts and ends, and the room number and the teacher as well. At the bottom it shows how many other lessons will be after this one.

Omg. My app is #3 in the paid AppStore charts in Germany today. #1 in payed education charts. 🤩🤯😱 (It’s a timetable app for vocational students in Lower Saxony, and it’s payed so a bit easier, schools currently start here so that’s why, ranked before but never that high.)

App-Charts payed in Germany. My app (myBBS) is ranking third.

Screenshot of my apps AppStore listing, I’d love to get better reviews, but alas. A timetable app that costs 99ct and has 3,0 stars. #1 in payed education today.

I hate the Google AI over views because sometimes I read it and believe it only to realize that it’s wrong. I googled where Stephen Colbert is from, and the AI thinks he’s from south California. He’s not. At least I think he’s not. I’m now doubting myself more after googling this. Thanks.

It reads in German “AI Overview” “Stephen Colbert, host of the late show, is born and from South California, through his wife Evelyn, who was born in South Carolina, he’s got connections to North Carolina.” I was googling this because I just met to people from South Carolina here, and was checking wether I remembered correctly that he’s from there.

Writers should internalize Lao Tzu's lesson about how the emptiness at the center of a wheel is what makes it useful, and how a pot is valuable because of where the clay *isn't*. Corporate geek culture has warped us into thinking that negative spaces are flaws that need to be fixed.
