iPhone Duo is coming to Explore SwiftUI, and I think it’s the most useful page I’ve ever made. Against all this AI slop, I think this will be the best way to truly experience and optimize how old, familiar, and new elements behave on such a complex device. #iOSDev #SwiftUI

New versions of WhaleDeck and DriveDex are out! 🎉 Both apps now come with 10 parameterized phrases for interacting with them via Siri. On top of that, WhaleDeck now offers 25 Shortcuts and DriveDex 33, giving you even more flexibility to build all kinds of custom workflows.

Apple’s App Review has been on fire lately! Five submissions went through in the past 24 hours. So it’s not too late to get your OS 27 updates in for Monday! Now only my new app remains. It’s been stuck in review for two weeks.

I don’t want to discourage anyone from improving Siri support, but simply adding App Shortcuts doesn’t create a Siri AI experience. Phrases have been around for ages, and they don’t really benefit from Siri’s AI capabilities. Only schemas do.

TIL: You can also apply buttonBorderShape to pickers. Combined with the .tabs picker style, you get the same rounded, glassy picker style on macOS as on iOS. Thanks to the SwiftUI team for pointing that out in response to my feedback! #iOSDev #SwiftUI

I am still working on my blog post for Gadse, summarizing all the things I’ve learned from working extensively with App Intents and Siri. Unfortunately, it also reminds me how hard and draining good writing is – which was probably also the hardest part of writing my theses 😅

Yesterday, I had a really nice chat with someone from WWDR about the current state of App Intents and Siri AI. While preparing for it, I managed to figure out a few more things that I’ll add to Gadse once I find some spare time. Let’s see what comes of my feedback.

Why is the Shortcuts app perfectly capable of doing this while Siri AI is not? 😭 What’s the difference between Siri AI and on-device Apple Intelligence in the Shortcuts app?
010
Florian @typ0genius.com · 08/08/2026
I already received an answer, and although I’m trying to clarify a few more things, the takeaway is pretty clear: Apps pretty much won’t benefit from Siri AI at all without implementing schemas – don’t even try to implement custom properties. I’ll elaborate soon!

Florian @typ0genius.com · 07/08/2026
With our Get Cat intent working, it’s time to give Siri's answer a face. This is pretty straightforward: simply include a View in the result that displays our entity. The View appears both inside and outside the Siri app. #iOSDev #SwiftUI
110
Florian @typ0genius.com · 07/08/2026
I've noticed an annoying flaw with those parameterized entity shortcuts: they all have the same name as the entity. This makes it difficult to distinguish in Spotlight which result is the shortcut and which is the indexed entity.
