John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 14hThis is turning into a nightmare season! At Fate's End is looking more & more like a 2027 release. Kena delayed, Sons of Sparta a third-party dud instead of a Santa Monica gem, Nivalis & Nocturne on not enough reviews... Splendid Software might be having layoffs (only I work here). 130

John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 30/09/2026Ended up having to reinstall Windows. Clicked "keep local files". Installer: "okay we'll delete all your local files." A pause, a deep sigh. "Okay." How is this OS popular 150
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 30/09/2026Isn't it fun how a Windows device might suddenly one day decide not to accept your local password, Microsoft account signin, fingerprint scanner ID, or PIN number, with each relying on the other as backup, and go into a cascading shitshow of failures keeping you out of your own device. 180
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 30/09/2026I keep getting this very specific sensation when playing Control Resonant that's like: 'this is the one and only time I'll get to play this for the first time, so relax, concentrate, appreciate, fall into it.' Felt this way playing Clair Obscur, TOTK, Death Stranding 2. Just: the really good shit. 2180

John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 28/09/2026Rough month to launch the Witcher 3 remaster with everyone deep into Control, Onimusha, Dawnwalker, Fire Emblem, Silent Hill, Well Dweller, etc. 140
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 28/09/2026Yup. The perfect pacing is gone, the script quality is gone, the characters all felt changed and wrong. Andor season one was simply incredible - a modern masterpiece. Season 2 is like a different show. Those endlessly jabbering dimwits at the crash site. The icky assault scene. I couldn't finish it! 110
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 28/09/2026Andor series 2 sucked too. It's like the second something gets some success, the equation changes, and something bad happens in production and ruins it 110
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 28/09/2026Congrats Jacob! Where was that crazy scenic mountain picture taken? 130
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 27/09/2026Meanwhile games Jedi Survivor and Star Wars Outlaws, and shows like the Mandalorian and Andor are carrying the torch, and feel more connected to what made Star Wars work in the first place. It's sad what's happened to the mainline films. They're just... not good. 0112
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 27/09/2026Yeah, there was a sense of lightness, propulsiveness, adventure in the first trilogy, but now it's become such holy cinema that everyone involved takes it almost *too* seriously, and that weighs down the vibe. Also, for me, the casting has been light on charisma, and the scripts feel overburdened. 131
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 27/09/2026Feel like the interesting Star Wars stuff is happening in side stories, spin offs, game stories. The modern mainline movies are just.. not it. 1201
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 26/09/2026All the mails are structured exactly the same. All of them say one (sometimes wrong) minifact about a recent video; why this makes the game relevant to me for coverage (it rarely is); then a painful AI-bland "call to action" on presumed next steps that will never be taken. (None have "unsubscribe"). 010
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 26/09/2026Yeah I have to do cleanup every few days and categorise 50-60-70 cookie cutter solo dev email senders as "promotion" so they bypass my drowning inbox, where actual important emails land 110
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 26/09/2026There is definitely some cursed gamedev Discord somewhere with a vast database of harvested emails that people mindlessly blast with the same bad cookie cutter email. 051
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 26/09/2026Shout out to @remedygames.com for listening to feedback & adding difficulty sliders to Control 1&2. Remedy's idea of base difficulty is about +20% on mine, I've found—being able to tune it improves the experience immeasurably. Everyone is different. There is no cookie cutter player. This is the way. 0131

John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 25/09/2026Have been cheerleading a friend through a catastrophic CS2 campaign—they ended up with probably the most broken, underresourced sleeper possible—by saying, this is your true and valid journey as a sleeper clinging onto their ~life by a single thread. Will send them this :D 000
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 24/09/2026Happy CONTROL: Resonant day to those who celebrate. Who's picking it up? 091
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 24/09/2026It's baffling how so many cold-call PR emails misunderstand what a PR email is for. If you're brusquely offering 80mb of b-roll & outlining the embargo before I know what the game is, you've lost me already. My advice is: don't assume we're interested. Engage more actively. Make us interested! 380
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 24/09/2026I can see why "messy" came up so much, even in positive reviews. The combat system is dense, and poorly explained with unhelpful nomenclature: Falter, Dominance, Talent, Power. Lots of abstruse pickups. It's like the opposite of the Capcom design coherency we've admired this year. But it has a vibe. 011
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 24/09/2026Also: good news about Dylan, they made him immediately likeable as a kind of freaked out sweaty escaped X-man mental patient outsider, and a mirror image of Jesse. I was worried about playing as him, but the feeling of outsiderdom isn't dissimilar to what made Jesse an appealing protagonist. 121

John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 23/09/2026I retired from doing Wordle on the day I failed to get "pshaw". It felt like time to stop, vividly. The game was saying one thing—or its NYT editor was, I suppose—but what I'd heard was: "You know, five minutes a day is not inconsiderable when you add it up over a decade." Couldn't unhear it. Pshaw. 120
John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 23/09/2026Yeah the few Lego games I've played I've been like. This a nicely made game, for someone else, and I can't tell if their ideal someone else is a 13-ish young gamer or a 40-ish fandom member gamer or something else completely. 100

John • Gaming In The Wild @gaminginthewild.com · 22/09/2026Perfect thanks. If they'd focussed on making this mode like, a main mode – and presenting it as The Single Player Dune Epic Of Your Dreams instead of a slightly sloppy seeming MMO – like, the Dune version of Jedi Survivor – it could have had a different reception I think. With this player, at least. 110
