And that woman, well, she is recently out of her job which empowered her to treat me and I am sure many others so disrespectfully. It looks like she is looking for a new role. I hope she gets taste of her own medicine at least once so she can realize how it feels to be become a better person after.

Be kind. Be supportive. Be thankful. You could be next on the other side. Maybe you are already. Still. If you ever have been that arrogant interviewer who felt the need to insult your interviewee for anything, if you recognize your error(s), forgive yourself. Maybe you will be forgiven too.

Her email was so traumatizing. That science agency had interviewed me for four different leadership roles over 4-5 years. This interview was the worst because of how this one woman treated me from the time of the interview to the time of her final rejection email following that mean response

the lead interviewer who bashed me for sending thank you notes to each person individually, basically admonishing me for how awful a candidate I was for thinking that would raise my chances. This was a powerful exec at a major science funding agency. A woman. Mistreating another woman

At the end of the two days, I was exhausted. But so grateful. So inspired by many of them. I was also taken back to some bad interview experiences some years ago, when I was the interviewee. One time, after I emailed thank you notes to each of four interview panelist, I received a response from

I just completed interviewing several highly talented individuals for a prestigious fellowship. Some were excellent. Some were just nervous. But they all showed up. For us. Prepared. Maybe over-prepared. Eager to express themselves and tell us why they are the best folks for the fellowship.

Just a general reminder that if you are interviewing someone for a role, be kind and thankful for their time and your fortune in being on that side of the table or virtual screen, and also for the chance to learn from someone who is trying to show their best to you.

New model findings "highlight the irreversible nature of Arctic climate change even under aggressive CDR scenarios." This means we cannot entirely fix our broken climate, even if we could remove nearly a century of carbon emissions from the atmosphere. And *this* means we must end fossil fuels.
