LOVED ”Jigi” by Nnamdi Vin-Anuonye at Lolwe Magazine. The lovesick grief, the crimes, the crushing force of capitalism, it’s all so fraught and moving. The ending is enough to make a person just wail. lolwe.org/jigi/

About a year ago I got a concussion at longsword practice, and not realizing, I went to my library for a program on making a stuffed cat and couldn't figure out how to do a blanket stitch. Just finished the cat this morning and the stitch is so easy! Almost like I had a concussion last time I tried!

Extremely wild to me that the song which plays near the climax when Stanley gets got - “Footsteps of Horror” by Merrick Farran - is also deployed in the ovaltine scene of A Christmas Story and in a SpongeBob episode

Idk if this is because of my general boredom with vampires or (more likely) that the story consistently scares me to the point of my genre brain turning off. Can’t even comprehend what is being telegraphed about the figures

Gabrielle Bleu @gabriellebleu.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
I only recently learned that this is generally considered a piece of vampire fiction. Which makes sense with the draining of Stanley’s blood and the figures being joined by a boy at the end. I always read them as regular wretched undead, corpses or ghouls, and perhaps a witch.

Once again, I am compelled to reread “Wailing Well” by M. R. James. I do this every three or four months. The figures crawling along the track always gets me.

I have FUCKED UP the tenses in this short story draft in a way where I can tell it’s bad but not how. The protagonist is just time traveling now, it’s fine it’s part of the story

The consideration for space environments and the way they affect human bodies is incredible. Scavenger's Reign's cancellation left a big parasitic void in my heart, and Sing really fills it with its fantastic and considered aliens, wild body horror, and deeply human fears and desires.
