Land use and agriculture rule much of Brazil's environmental policy. Scholars and CSSN members Daniela Campello et. al. observe how the government operates within Brazil’s Agribusiness Caucus (FPA). They find shocking anti-environment results. See their findings: www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1...

Green rhetoric, anti-environmental voting: legislative behavior in Brazil’s agribusiness caucus
Do international market pressures reshape domestic climate politics, or do they merely induce rhetorical adaptation? While climate politics in advanced economies centers on fossil fuels, Brazil pre...

Cool recent paper at @environmentalpol.bsky.social on 🇧🇷 agribusiness caucus voting behavior. Authors show that BR legislators financed by export-oriented firms vote like those financed by domestic farmers (all against enviro protections) despite exporters adopting green rhetoric (mostly for EU):

This looks excellent. The ability to keep up with people's new working papers and articles is one of the things that the other place used to be great for. This feed makes it very easy. 👇

We streamlined six new DID-like estimators and created this tutorial for implementation in R. yiqingxu.org/packages/fec... Hope you no longer need to spend months figuring out what these estimators are and how to use them.

New (open access) publication with @philipp-kerler.bsky.social. We draw on fieldwork to build a theoretical model that outlines the conditions when the expectation of clientelism can drive selective political engagement, something we call asymmetric participation. #distributivepolitics #clientelism

It doesn't surprise me that privileged men are more likely to believe (incorrectly) that they're worse off than women or to blame feminism for the challenges they face. As I show in Holding It Together, dude-fluencers push this view to keep us divided. 2/ www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/697130...

Despite patriarchy's persistence, growing numbers of men believe they have it worse off than women. And, new research shows this "male victimhood" ideology is most common among men who aren't facing hardship. Which means what they're really feeling is status loss. 1/ www.psypost.org/male-victimh...

Male victimhood ideology driven by perceived status loss, not economic hardship, among Korean men
Research published in Sex Roles suggests that male victimhood ideology among South Korean men is driven more by perceived socioeconomic status decline rather than objective economic hardship.
