Haven't talked a lot about it here... I am part of @gmtg-germany.bsky.social. In spring we sail again to break the illegal siege of Gaza. On Instagram we were able to grow the page from 0 to 56k followers. Now we will post our content here too. It would be lovely if some of you could give a follow 🤍

📣 Hot off the press at #ProcB! 🔍 Our study checked data/code-sharing policies in 275 eco/evo journals and compliance in Proc B (n=2,340) & Ecology Letters (n=571). Policies exist, but clarity and strictness vary, affecting reproducibility. 🔗 doi.org/10.1098/rspb...

📊 Less than half of Ecology & Evolution journals mandate data and/or code sharing. Policies exist, but big gaps remain. We propose 7 steps for improvement, including: ✔️ clear and explicit policies ✔️ data and code sharing mandate at peer-review ✔️ monitoring compliance

Data come in many different formats and are used in many different ways, but in many cases, a checklist like this (along with good data documentation) can help you verify if a dataset is in a usable format for most general purposes. osf.io/t8upr

It is incredible (or incredibly sad) how we had to develop a skill of recomposing ourselves after witnessing horrendous scenes of athrocities happening in Palestine just so that we can go back to work instead of crying our eyes out for the rest of the day.

Which Kind of Science Reform
What hope is there for science reform, if we can't agree on what to reform? Right now, principles are more important than practices.
