I had to help two colleagues today get a thing I'd make (artisanal hand crafted) working in their Claude spaghetti (their words) and during a screen share it was apparent their brains have atrophied. Totally lost context of the architecture of their own thing. They'd moved a file to the wrong place.

This reminds me of a youtuber I saw once complaining that Garfield Kart would shut down his computer with a controller plugged in and it turns out the problem was that the most upvoted steam config for Garfield Kart at the time was a community config that bound every button to "Shutdown Computer"

I got explicitly told by my Line Manager to be less doomer-y about this, and that I need to pick up more AI-flavoured initiatives, in place of software engineering ones. Also, that they're probably trying to get bought before any impending crash, so that's good and normal.

I went to PAX in 2009 (maybe '10) and the WET booth people were barely able to give away the merch. I took like ten of the free WET "monkey business" graphic tees that were actually surprisingly good quality and they served as partner sleep shirt stockpile for over a decade.
