Toronto gay philanthropist Salah Bachir has died.
The 519 is saddened to learn of the passing of Salah J. Bachir, C.M., O.Ont., prominent Canadian entrepreneur, philanthropist, arts patron, author, and tireless advocate for 2SLGBTQ+ communities.

As Honorary Patron of The 519, Salah played a transformative role in the organization’s growth and impact. In 2004, he spearheaded the successful capital campaign to expand and renovate The 519, a contribution recognized through the naming of the Salah J. Bachir Wing. He also led The 519 Annual Gala for nearly two decades, helping raise critical funds to support the organization’s year-round programs and services.

Salah’s passing is a deep loss to our organization and for our communities. The Salah Bachir Fund has been set up in honour of his wishes and his life and legacy. It will provide emergency financial aid, groceries, and vital livelihood support to LGBTQ+ refugees who are clients of The 519.

It’s fucking TRUE.
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen states:
- I am pleased that there is a prospect of a good agreement for Greenland, the Kingdom of Denmark and the United States. An agreement that strengthens our common security in the Arctic and the North Atlantic area and is thus also good for NATO and Europe. And an agreement that at the same time recognizes the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom and the right of the Greenlandic people to self-determination.
Chairman of the Greenland Government, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, states in the press release that the agreement will ensure and strengthen the security of Greenland, the Kingdom of Denmark, the United States and the Western alliance.
"The agreement recognizes Greenland's interests and our place in international cooperation. It benefits us all," he says.
According to the Prime Minister's Office, the parties are expected to sign the agreement next week in connection with the UN General Assembly. Once signed, the agreement will need to go through the necessary parliamentary procedures to enter into force, it said.
It was in January this year that Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and the then Greenlandic Minister of Foreign Affairs Vivian Motzfeldt, after a meeting with the American, JD Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, announced that the parties had decided to establish a "high-level" working group to find solutions and a common way forward.

It’s time for closure on this. Mandate was a gay pr0n magazine in the 1970s and 80s. The issue below was one of the first I ever had. I still think of the magazine when I hear the word.
Pictured is the front cover of a 1986 copy of Mandate with a tanned, muscular, shirtless man on it.

Was so glad to finally see the BAPS shri swaminarayan mandir Hindu complex in Toronto. Carved in India and assembled piece by piece on site. The inner sanctum is surprisingly small, but WOW. I've never seen such intricate carving in a building. We had a fantastic vegetarian lunch.

Well well well...
New: In a phone call with me after U.S.-Canada trade negotiations collapsed, President Trump suggested the US had added conditions late during talks.

“That sounds like me,” Trump responded, when asked about Canadian officials' assertion about US late-stage demands.

When I pressed, “So you don't deny it?”

The president replied, “No, no, I don't deny anything. So no, they have to pay a fair amount. And if they don't pay a fair amount, we won't make a deal. That's fine.“

Jivani blames Carney and Ford, natch.
This is a solemn moment for hundreds of thousands families across Canada.

In homes on every corner of this nation, working people are having tough conversations about what their future looks like and how they will provide for their families.

Make no mistake. Since the beginning, in their public communications, Liberal politicians like Mark Carney and Doug Ford have put their political self-interests ahead of Canadian workers.

As leaders, I believe it's incumbent on us to be servants for the people who elected us, and the families who are relying on us to bring home the dignity that comes with a paycheque.

I'm not giving up. I will continue fighting for hardworking people in my community and across Canada.

I know what it means to have real questions about putting food on the table and for working people to endure hardships. Canadians should know that Conservatives are in your corner. And I want to thank Pierre Poilievre for encouraging me to continue fighting for this country's working people.

In your service,
Jamil

I like the sentiment, but the picture suggests that collectivism takes us back to the stone age, which is rubbish. I'd have chosen a picture more along the lines of:
Four women are in a large covered garden, holding a wooden box full of produce. They are happy and united.
